Diablo 4 Where to Spend Obols – Murmuring and Using Obols

In Diablo 4 where to spend Obols is a question a lot of players have. Murmuring Obols are one of Diablo 4’s main currencies. Although you can get Gold from almost anywhere, Obols only drop from Local Events. Once you acquire some Obols, you can spend them at Purveyors of Curiosities on randomized gear items.

However, be aware that you can only have a limited number of Obols. Diablo 4 offers various ways for you to get good gear, from dungeon crawling to World Events. However, one of the easiest ways to obtain Legendary Items relatively early in the game is through Murmuring Obols.

How do they work? Well, if you’ve gathered this currency and you don’t know what to do, here is a simple guide!

How to Get Diablo 4 Murmuring Obols

Murmuring Obols in Diablo 4 function similarly to Blood Shards from Diablo 3. Remember, you can exchange your Obols at the Purveyors of Curiosities. But, before you learn where you can spend Obols, you should know how to obtain them.

You can get Murmuring Obols if you complete World Events in the game. The amount of Murmuring Obols distributed will depend on your event participation and whether you fulfilled minor objectives that occur throughout Sanctuary. It’s worth noting that this refers to random events, not Diablo 4 world bosses.

How Many Obols Will You Get?

When you complete an event, together with its main and side objectives, you will get 35 Obols. Side quests usually provide you with a couple of Obols, so they are worth checking out. Dungeons and Cellars can also spawn events of their own, and they will award you with Obols when you complete them.

With events constantly appearing and resetting throughout major regions, there is always more for you to explore. So, if you want to farm events, there are certain spots near town that keep spawning more events. If you engage in them correctly, you could earn around 100 of Obols in about an hour.

Obol Storage

Each player, by default, is only able to hold up to 500 Murmuring Obols in their inventory. In order to get more Obols, you have to spend the ones you already have. So, before you decide to engage in an event nearby, check the number of Obols you have… otherwise you might just be wasting your time!

That said, there are two ways you could increase the maximum Murmuring Obol capacity. The first involves collecting Altars of Lilith, while the second one involves reaching Rank 4 Renown with each region. Altars of Lilith will increase your capacity by +20, while Rank 4 Renown increases the capacity by +80.

Diablo 4 Where to Spend Obols

Once you acquire Obols, there is only one place where you can spend them: at the Diablo 4 Obols vendor known as the Curiosities Vendor. The Purveyor of Curiosities can be located in the main city of every major region in the game.

The vendor acts as a gambler, trading Obols in exchange for Unidentified Items. These can include anything from common to Legendary items. But keep in mind that you won’t know their rarity until you purchase them.

What Can You Buy With Obols?

  • Whispering Key (20 Obols) – this is the cheapest thing at the Purveyor of Curiosities. It gives you the chance to open the Silent Chest, which spawn randomly around the Sanctuary. It has a high chance of providing Rare Gear.
  • Focus (40 Obols) – your weapon is almost as important as your defence. If you’re playing a magic class that can use focus to heighten your damage, you could use Obols to get better Focus.
  • Rings (60 Obols) – regardless of the class you decide to play, you’ll surely want to equip Legendary rings. They can improve your overall stats quite dramatically.
  • Amulets (60 Obols) – are another piece of gear that provide you with various aspects. They don’t even take up an armor slot. However, you can only equip one amulet, while you can equip two rings.
  • Two-Handed Weapons (75 Obols) – there are different two-handed Legendary weapons you have a chance to get by spending Obols. You can also consider one-hand (50 Obols) and off-hand weapons (40 Obols).
  • Shield (40 Obols) – if you are playing a class that requires more armor, you should consider opting for a shield instead of Focus or a two-handed weapon. Legendary shields exist, but are incredibly rare.

Other than the above mentioned, you can also purchase a helmet, chest armor, gloves, boots, pants, and other items. However, in terms of what you should buy, definitely consider Whispering Keys, Amulets, and Rings.

Whispering Keys are used to open locked chests, and they have a high rarity drop. Amulets and Rings are also worth considering because they provide you with heightened stats. Of course, at the end of the day, it all comes down to your personal preferences. You are free to spend your Murmuring Obols however you want!
