Boston Breach Closing in on COD League Loss Streak Record

Boston Breach has had a tough time of late and is rapidly closing in on the record for the longest losing streak in CDL history (13 consecutive matches). Following two more losses this weekend in the CDL, Boston Breach now sits on a losing streak of 12 matches back-to-back, putting the squad just one loss behind Paris Legion’s record secured between May and July in 2022. Following a win against Toronto Ultra Academy at the Pro-Am Classic in May 2022, Paris Legion never won another match before the team was scrapped in July 2022.

Boston’s last win was a 3 – 0 sweep over Seattle Surge during the Major II qualifying stage, back on March 17. Before that, the squad was ebbing and flowing somewhat, but the loss streaks had never exceeded four matches back-to-back. With 12 consecutive losses now being recorded against Boston Breach, the squad runs the danger of entering the history books with a record that nobody ever wants.

Worst of the Worst

Behind Paris Legion’s loss streak in 2022 sits a few other teams that have run afoul of a miserable run in the Call of Duty League.

Los Angeles Guerrillas

Once feared to be shutting down, the Los Angeles Guerrillas have remained one of the worst-rated teams in the COD League with scary consistency.

  • 2020 season: 11-match loss streak
  • 2021 season: Out of 35 matches, the team won just nine, at one point winning just two out of 19 matches
  • 2022 season: One losing streak saw just one win out of 11 matches
  • 2023 season: One win in 16 matches, and that was against one of the lowest-rated teams in the League
  • 2024 season: Second-from-bottom in the table with a record of 10-21

Royal Ravens

Since rebranded as the Carolina Royal Ravens, the team has had slightly more luck, but this is still one of the most cursed organisations in Call of Duty esports. When the team was the London Royal Ravens, nothing but bad luck abounded.

  • 2021 season: Failed to win a single match until late March (season commenced in January)
  • 2022 season: Lost to Seattle Surge on December 9 and by May 2023, the team had won just five matches

Minnesota Rokkr

Despite being regarded as a capable mid-table side, Minnesota Rokkr has fallen into some dramatic losing streaks.

  • 2020 season: 10-match losing streak
  • 2023 season: Won just two matches out of 14

Seattle Surge

Seattle Surge is another team that has experienced some wildly inconsistent streaks throughout CDL history.

  • 2020 season: Won just one match out of a streak of 15
  • 2021 season: 10-match losing streak
  • 2022 season: Won just three games out of 16 early in the season
  • 2024 season: Went on a streak of losing against the worst-rated teams in the COD League, including Boston, Vegas Legion, and the Royal Ravens

And of course, Boston Breach sits on a losing streak of 12 consecutive matches at present and is poised to smash the existing record. Boston’s next fixture is on June 8 and it’s against Seattle Surge, who Boston already beat earlier this season. Will Breach manage to avoid getting lumbered with this morale-crushing record?
