Call of Duty NEXT Scheduled For August 28
Following a reveal that unveiled Black Ops 6, it was confirmed that Call of Duty NEXT is scheduled to take place on August 28. This will likely be hosted in parallel with a multiplayer beta for Black Ops 6, and it’s where the game’s core multiplayer platform will be revealed in-depth. Recently, at the Black Ops 6 Direct showcase event, a twenty-five-minute breakdown covered many key elements from the development path of Black Ops 6 – but multiplayer was left relatively untouched.
Call of Duty NEXT is the place to be for COD fans worldwide. Every time a COD NEXT showcase takes place, we learn invaluable information about the future of this legendary first-person shooter franchise. At the next event, we’ll see the full reveal of the Black Ops 6 multiplayer ecosystem, what’s next for COD Warzone, and perhaps learn more about the next season of the Call of Duty League.
What’s NEXT for COD NEXT?
Call of Duty NEXT is a relatively new concept in the COD space. It debuted two years ago and has been held in celebration of each new Call of Duty game since. At this year’s COD NEXT showcase, we’ll get an intricate look at Black Ops 6’s multiplayer ecosystem, with the event being backed by the power of the scene’s biggest content creators. It’s where the best Call of Duty players in the world learn about what’s next for the series – as well as the tens of millions of regular fans out there.
On August 28, Activision Blizzard and associated studios will team up to present the future of COD. There are high expectations that the event will yield information regarding the next generation of the Call of Duty League. In the last few weeks, Activision’s esports team made some drastic changes, such as scrapping the ‘extortionate’ entry fees to the COD League and changing some rules around sponsorship.
It’s not yet known if the format for the CDL will change next year, but if it’s going to be confirmed anywhere, it’ll be at the Call of Duty NEXT event.
During the COD NEXT event, we should also learn about what’s in store for Call of Duty: Warzone, the popular battle royale platform. With each new Call of Duty game, we’ve seen some sizeable changes in Warzone. It was recently confirmed that no skins or content from Modern Warfare 2 or 3 will carry over into Black Ops 6 – but everything will port over into Warzone as normal.
