ELEAGUE Major Boston 2018
Let’s start with the big one. The ELEAGUE Major 2018 will take place in Boston and will run January 12 to January 28. The initial qualifiers for the event will run from January 12 to January 15 and the final event will start on January 19 and end on January 28. This is an absolutely huge event that will draw all of the best teams from around the globe. Current top-of-the-world team SK will be showing up, but they’ll be playing the event with a stand-in.
Could this be the big premiere event that SK loses to FaZe? Or will other teams sneak up through and snatch a win from under SK’s noses? Teams such as Fnatic, Astralis, Cloud9, NaVi, EnVyUs, G2, and Virtus Pro will be attending. The prize pool for this major is a massive $1,000,000.
WESG 2017 Asia Pacific Regional Finals
After a series of great qualifying events for the Asian region n 2017, the WESG Asia Pacific regional finals will finally see which teams out of the entire APAC region deserve to move on to the WESG finals. Only the top four teams are allowed to go forth to the WESG international event, and with this being one of the first chances many APAC teams have had to attend an international event, there’s a lot on the line.
The top place prize is also $40,000 so there’s a considerable amount of money on the line for just a qualifier.
IEM Katowice 2018 Qualifiers
Over the years, Katowice has proven itself to be one of the best events to go and watch for CS:GO esports. The crowd is always energetic and the games are often incredibly close. Virtus Pro, a Polish team, has been in a big slump recently, but usually any event in Katowice is enough to wake them up a bit. It’d be great to see Virtus Pro performing against the greatest teams amongst the world again.
Note that only the qualifiers are happening in January. Qualifiers for Oceania, Asia, North America, and Europe will take place in January.
ESEA Season 26 MDL Global Challenge
If you can’t wait till the middle of January for the ELEAGUE Major, make sure to tune into the ESEA Season 26 MDL Global Challenge tournament happening from January 4 to January 8. This event will see a number of lesser-known teams have the chance to pull in $18,000 and get recognized by other event organizers for their talent.
Teams attending this event include Ago, Chiefs, eXtatus, Ghost, GX, Rise Nation, SoaR, and Space Soldiers. These are the teams that are very, very close to being able to compete with the top teams in the world.
