Virtus.pro

Virtus.pro, most commonly known as VP, is one of the top esports teams in the world. VP has been involved in the competitive gaming scene from as early as 2003. Seeing as they’ve been around for more than a decade, it is fair to say that VP is one of the true veteran organizations within the esports world. Not only does Virtus.pro have many years behind them, but they also have millions of fans around the world.

There are a number of famous Virtus.pro teams across a variety of esports titles. The most popular titles that VP compete in at a high level include Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2 esports. Virtus.pro as an organization has been to dozens of tournaments across the globe. The organization itself houses players from both Russia and Poland.

The VP Team

One of the most incredible things about the VP team is their hesitancy to split up. It’s very commonplace for esports teams to go through new rosters regularly. As soon as performance hits a dip, players are often swapped out to give the roster a fresh change. With Virtus.pro, things have always been different. For a very long time, the core Virtus.pro roster consisted of TaZ, NEO, pashaBiceps, byali, and Snax. Unfortunately, in recent years, VP has struggled to compete at the top. A lot of discussion has been made about Virtus.pro’s performance in CS:GO. Some claim that the team is burnt out from playing the game too long, whilst others argue that the majority of the team is getting close to retiring age for the scene. It’s true that the CS:GO scene is mostly made out of youngsters. The most common age range is 18-24.

TaZ is 31, NEO is 30, and pashaBiceps is 29. Snax and byali are still fairly young at 24 and 23, respectively. With the huge age gap, there are rumors that the older players will eventually step down and be replaced with younger Polish talent. One roster changed has already happened – The oldest player, TaZ, recently stepped down from Virtus.pro and MICHU stepped in as a replacement. MICHU is now the youngest player in Virtus.pro at 22 years of age. Despite the roster change, Virtus.pro are still struggling to find their footing in the competitive scene in 2018,  falling victim to nearly every other team that comes against them.

PashaBiceps Profile

There’s no denying that the core VP team is still very popular with the fans. One of the most celebrated players is PashaBiceps. Pasha has achieved a lot with his skills and prowess, playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on an international scale. Considered to be one of the greatest, his credentials speak volumes, with him having worked with the Golden Five (a Polish group of elite CS:GO players), as well as a couple of other teams, before moving on to join Virtus.pro.

PashaBiceps has generated a considerable amount in prize winnings so far, with the current figure expected to raise as he partakes in more events. He’s amassed such wealth by playing to his strengths, with him best known for operating within two specific roles: Rifler and AWPer. Many have said that PashaBiceps has been instrumental in helping his team walk away with first places again and again at major tournaments. In 2018,  alongside other VP members, PashaBiceps has struggled to compete amongst the best. Pasha is still trying his best, but other real life responsibilities may end up being the reason why Pasha steps out. PashaBiceps has a child and a wife to care for.

Achievements

From the off, VP was determined to make a name for themselves, with the team having proved their mettle by winning first place in the ESL Major Series One Katowice 2014. Not content with this success alone, they also achieved two further wins in 2015, gaining first place in both the ESEA Season 18 Global Invite Division, and the ESL ESEA Pro League Invitational.

Dreamhack Masters Las Vegas 2017

Having made such an impact already, the team could have been forgiven for resting on their laurels in 2016, however they continued to strive for the same, or better, results. Consequently, they secured three more big wins at the StarLadder iLeague Invitational No.1, the ELEAGUE Season 1, and the DreamHack Bucharest 2016. Going from strength to strength, VP won The DreamHack Masters Las Vegas 2017, with their future only looking even brighter for their triumphs.

As you would expect, even more so after all we’ve learned, Virtus.pro has many sponsorships in place, with the main ones coming from organizations such as Twitch, Mr.Cat, and FragStore, and these are only just scratching the surface. Virtus.pro also holds the title for going the longest time without adding/removing players and changing the roster. In many people’s eyes, this is why Virtus.pro is considered to be one of the best teams in the world, despite their recent lack of results in 2018.
