The Heroic CS2 Roster Drama Explained

After benching cadiaN, Heroic has just gone nuclear in a statement about two of its current players. The Heroic CS2 roster drama is ongoing, with both stavn and jabbi being benched after alleged sneaky antics more suited to Game of Thrones than Counter-Strike.

Heroic CS2 Roster Drama

Heroic released the statement earlier today, confirming that stavn and jabbi had been benched with immediate effect. The statement goes into great detail, alleging that stavn and jabbi pushed for the removal of cadiaN after ESL Pro League Season 18.

It seems the duo promised that cadiaN’s removal would see them renew their contracts, which both had 10 months remaining. After a standoff between the team with no amicable resolution, Heroic made the decision to side against cadiaN, who now is rumored to be heading to Team Liquid. Replacing your talisman is always tough, but so rarely are they the face of the entire organization like cadiaN was.

However, once those contracts were delivered, they allegedly confirmed their intention to sign for Astralis instead. Right now, we’ve only got one side of the story. For now, it’s a terrible look for both stavn and jabbi, both of whom tweeted their fond farewells when he was benched from the Heroic CS2 roster earlier this month.

What Now?

The next steps are currently unknown. In the statement, the team confirmed its intention to bring stavn and jabbi back into the active Heroic CS2 roster. Given the contract situation and the tone of the statement, it’s hard to see a route back for the duo. With the PGL Copenhagen Major coming up next year, both Heroic and Astralis will want their rosters to be in perfect shape for the Danish tournament.

This news is sure to come as a shock to Astralis’ active roster, too. Presumably, jabbi and stavn were to replace Staehr and b0RUP. This news definitely has the potential to destabilize the team for upcoming matches. Astralis recently sold their League of Legends LEC spot to Karmine Corp for an estimated €26,000,000, meaning the Danes are cash-rich and fully committed to CS. Acquiring two of the biggest Danish talents in the world from their rivals would be a hell of a statement.

For now, Heroic is competing in the Roobet Cup 2023 with the MOUZ NXT duo Chr1zN and sirah. Only stavn has commented with a cryptic tweet online, with jabbi later reposting it.

cadiaN Back For BLAST?

A new twist in the tale was added on 30th October, when it was revealed that cadiaN would actually be standing in for Heroic at the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023. It’s one last chance for cadiaN to represent Heroic in the Royal Arena in Copenhagen, the dream of any Dane.

While cadiaN is still expected to join Team Liquid afterward, it shows that things between him and the organization remain somewhat amicable. If he can defy the odds with a Heroic squad that will presumably still be without stavn and jabbi, it would be a storyline straight out of cadiaN’s wildest dreams.

Given Chr1zN and sirah’s impressive performances for the team of late, it’s certainly possible we see one of the two come back one more time. Heroic will be buffed by dupreeh’s impressive return to Tier 1, regardless of the fifth player.
