With the conclusion of the second set of NA Qualifiers for the Thunderpick World Championship 2024, Legacy have made themselves the fourth team qualified for the tournament. It has been an interesting run for the Brazilian roster, beating teams like Vibe and Mythic, while also controversially progressing over Nouns thanks to a scheduling conflict.

In the end, it all came down to a banger matchup against Party Astronauts. Let’s see how things went down.

Legacy run the gauntlet against Party Astronauts

Legacy took the series against Party Astronauts in 2:1 fashion, but they were forced to run the gauntlet to do so. The first map of Inferno went the full 24 rounds, with Legacy just managing to edge it out. Anubis was a total blowout in favor of Party Astronauts, taking down Legacy 13:4 to tie up the series. With this kind of momentum, you could be forgiven for thinking PA had the advantage going into the Mirage decider.

Mirage proved to be another marathon map, with Party Astronauts taking Legacy all the way to overtime in a match that ended 16:13 in favor of the Brazilians. They were led by a huge performance by dumau, who picked up 28 kills to grab the MVP award for the series as a whole. Just one round in regulation could’ve swung this in favor of Party Astronauts, and with the easy second map, they’ll be disappointed they couldn’t get the job done here.

Now, Legacy joins BLEED, Imperial, and M80 in the list of teams qualified for the Thunderpick World Championship 2024. The tournament, which is set to take place in October later this year, promises to bring 16 of the best CS2 teams from around the globe together for one banger competition. Two more spots will be available to qualified teams, with a second European and South American qualifier set to take place over the next few months. The remaining ten teams will be invited directly by Thunderpick.
