m0NESY receives last-minute visa for BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024

Scratch what we said yesterday – all seems to be saved at G2. Yesterday, it was reported that m0NESY would miss the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024, with coach TaZ filling in. Now, the Russian AWPer has confirmed on Telegram that he has managed to receive a last-minute visa for the event, and is traveling to pick up his passport. The current hope is that m0NESY will be available to play the first match of the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024, putting G2 at full strength once more.

The news will come as a huge relief for G2 fans. This roster seemed set to play its second consecutive event with a stand-in, and it seemed difficult to imagine G2 repeating their IEM Dallas 2024 miracle all over again. Simply put, m0NESY is far too important for G2 to lose for an extended period of time, and his non-presence in London likely would have seen them sent packing extremely early.

Despite m0NESY receiving the visa, he now faces a race against time to be ready for their opening match against Spirit tomorrow. G2 are set to play in the evening, which should help matters, but there’s a chance that we will still see TaZ on the server for one match only. For the sake of the competitive integrity of the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024, we hope he makes it. After all, it would be an enormous shame to miss out on a clash between m0NESY and donk on the server.
Ironically, there’s one negative to m0NESY’s return here: this result actually matters now. G2 have struggled for results during the 2024 season, putting pressure on several of the team’s players. Coming into the BLAST Premier Spring Final 2024 with a stand-in meant any poor result could be hand-waved away, in the same way it would have been had they flopped at IEM Dallas. Now, with their star AWPer back, there’s real pressure for a strong result in London. Let’s see how they handle it.
