Elder Titan Dota 2 Guide – Win Fights for Your Team in Patch 7.14
Elder Titan is a team-fighting hero with lots of disables, and capable of dealing lots of right-click damage in team-fights. Natural Order is very strong against heroes with high agility and lots of magic resistance.
With a good Echo Stomp, he is able to sleep several enemies to set up his ultimate, Earth Splitter. This slows enemies through magic immunity and with the bonus damage from Astral Spirit and armor reduction from Natural Order, Elder Titan and his team is able to deal a tremendous amount of damage.

Complete Elder Titan Spell guide
Echo Stomp
Elder Titan slams the ground, sleeping all enemies around him. For the first roughly 1 second, enemies cannot be awoken. You can use this spell to prevent enemies from ganking you or your allies by sleeping them that are near each other. In many situations, you can even turns ganks around by fighting your enemies one by one as they won’t wake for 5 seconds at level 4 unless they take too much damage. In the mid and late game this spell becomes harder to land as your enemies gain increased mobility through items like Force Staff.
Enemies take half the damage as physical and half as magical. If Astral Spirit is deployed, then the Echo Stomp it casts will deal magical damage, while your Stomp deals physical damage. That means that if the enemy is in range of both or if the Astral Spirit is not active, then the enemies will effectively take twice the damage.
Astral Spirit
Elder Titan summons a spirit at the target location which can be controlled and lasts for a few seconds. The spirit deals damage to any enemy it passes, and upon returning to Elder Titan, he will gain bonus damage depending on the number of heroes and creeps the spirit has passed for a short duration. Your Astral Spirit has all 3 of your regular spells, focusing on the magic part of the spell. If you cast Echo Stomp on your main hero, your spirit will replicate it, but deal magical damage instead.
The Natural Order aura of the spirit removes magic resistance, while the aura around ET removes base armor. You will primarily be using Astral Spirit to set up your Echo Stomp. During the laning phase, you can use your Astral Spirit to gain lots of damage by running it through as many units as possible, so that you can trade hits more effectively and last hit more easily. The spirit can be targeted by Boots of Travel. Astral Spirit can also be used to scout the area, as it provides some vision and in this case you don’t need to buy Dota 2 wards. You can prioritize Astral Spirit over Natural Order if the enemy lineup doesn’t have very high base armor, or if they are particularly squishy, as your right clicks will do more damage this way and you can use Astral Spirit as more of a nuke.
Natural Order
Elder Titan reduces the base armor and base magic reduction of all nearby enemies. When Astral Spirit is active, the armor reduction aura is centered around ET and the magic reduction aura around the spirit. The range of this aura is very limited, so you need to be stood very close to the enemy you intend to debuff or have Astral Spirit near them. Keep in mind, however, that the Astral Spirit only replicates the magic resistance reduction and not the base armor. As Natural Order only reduces the base armor/magic resistance value of the enemy, items that provide additional armor or magic resistance are not reduced. This means that the passive is very effective against heroes with high agility, as it will nullify their naturally high armor.

@ Valve
Earth Splitter
Elder Titan slams the ground, creating a split in the target direction which explodes after 3 seconds, dealing damage as a percentage of their maximum HP and slowing all enemies caught in the explosion. Aghanim’s Scepter increases the slow duration and applies a disarm. Half of the damage is dealt as physical, and the other half as magical. This spell is hard to use very effectively, and often relies on some form of lockdown to land reliably. A good Echo Stomp can setup Earth Splitter very effectively, as can spells such as Black Hole and Reverse Polarity.
Best Elder Titan Talents
Level 10: +200 Health or +25 Movement Speed
If you need to tank up, then you should choose the extra Health. If you can get away with the extra movement speed, then you’ll be able to move quite quickly when you’ve gotten some stacks of Astral Spirit movement speed up, but in general you will always want to take the extra strength.
Level 15: +30 Astral Spirit Hero Attack or +15% Magic Resistance
The additional damage can be a good choice if you are able to attack enemies in fights a lot and if you aren’t taking too much magical damage. If you’re facing lots of magical damage, and you aren’t playing in a semi-carry position, then you should choose the magic resistance as it will tank you up.
Level 20: +100 Echo Stomp Damage or +70 Attack Speed
If you’re facing relatively squishy heroes, you can get the extra Stomp damage. The extra damage is applied to both the physical and magical damage parts of the spell, which means that Echo Stomp effectively deals 60 more damage to enemies that are caught by both aspects. The bonus attack speed can be good if you have managed to get some items in the mid game that can give you some DPS such as Solar Crest or Heaven’s Halberd.
Level 25: -75s Earth Splitter Cooldown or +100% Lifesteal
The reduced cooldown will bring it down to 25 seconds at level 3 Earth Splitter. This means that you could theoretically use it against every creepwave when defending the high-ground. This is particularly powerful if you have an Aghanim’s Scepter as it will disarm enemy heroes as well, preventing them from dealing as much chip damage to your towers and can even serve as an initiation spell in some situations.
The 100% lifesteal can be good if you have some DPS items or if you’re able to build up a lot of damage with Astral Spirit through illusion or creep heroes. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter if you aren’t able to attack enemies a lot in team-fights anyway, which is sometimes the case against lineups with lots of slows or mobility items.
If you’re playing from behind, then the reduced cooldown is porbably a better choice as it will give you more opportunities to win fights. On the other hand, the lifesteal will give you a massive amount of sustainability and make you much harder to take down.
What Items to build on Elder Titan
Starting Items
- Wind Lace
- Boots of Speed
- Tango
- Healing Salve
- Clarity
- Enchanted Mango
- Stout Shield
- Observer Ward
Elder Titan is very flexible with the starting items he can get, and it depends largely on his lane. If you intend to roam with ET in the early game, you’ll need Boots of Speed. ET has above average movement speed, and with boots he is able to chase or escape enemies very easily. A similar effect can be achieved with a Wind Lace which is usually more desirable in the off lane. A Stout Shield can be a good item in games where you will take a lot of harass in the form of right-clicks from your lane. Standard regen will be needed depending on your lane and a Clarity or Mango will give you some mana regen that can be used to cast an Echo Stomp when needed. This is important as you largely rely on casting it to survive ganks against some of the best Dota 2 players.
Early Game Items
Tranquil Boots
Tranquil Boots are the boots of choice for ET in almost every game. This is because he does not need the mana from Arcane Boots and he doesn’t need the damage from Phase or Treads.
Soul Ring
A Soul Ring will give ET enough mana regeneration in the early and mid game and allow him to spam Astral Spirit in the laning phase. This will give you lots of movement speed to escape your enemies and lots of damage to trade hits more effectively and last hit more easily.
Magic Wand
A Magic Wand is a good item on ET because it gives you lots of sustainability in the early and mid game, especially because you should team-fight a lot when your ultimate is available.
Arcane Boots
If your team will have no hero that buys Arcane Boots, you can buy them yourself. Having these will allow you to skip a Soul Ring.

Mid Game Items
Eul’s Scepter of Divinity
Eul’s Scepter is a good item on ET primarily because it can be used to set up Echo Stomp very easily. It’s worth getting if you are facing lots of silences and/or slows. The increased movement speed stacks very well with the bonus movement from Astral Spirit and Tranquil Boots.
Mekansm
Elder Titan is able to team-fight very easily in the early and mid game, and a Mekansm allows your team to take fights even more easily. When you get your Mekansm, in most cases you’ll be able to force a team-fight. The heal from Mekansm will give your team an edge, especially if you get it relatively early.
Drum of Endurance
If you need more stats in the early-to-mid game, then a Drum is a good item on ET. It gives you more team-fight utility and makes you a little bit better at fighting earlier.
Glimmer Cape
If you’re facing heroes that you can kite very easily, then you should consider getting a Glimmer Cape. It’s especially a good item if you’re up against lots of magical damage.
Late Game Items
Lotus Orb
A Lotus Orb is a good late game item if you’re facing lots of single-target spells and silences. It is also very effective against roots and other forms of disables.
Aghanim’s Scepter
An Aghanim’s Scepter can be a good item if you are facing a lineup with lots of strong right-clickers. It’s generally less reliable than a Heaven’s Halberd, but if you have some form of setup, such as a strong AoE disable, then it can be a good item.
Rod of Atos
A Rod of Atos is a good item against heroes that are hard to lockdown. It’s relatively cheap to build into and provides you with some fitting stats. A Rod of Atos sets up very well for an Echo Stomp and Earth Splitter combo.
Scythe of Vyse
If you’re in the very late game and have lots of gold, then you can always get a Scythe of Vyse to provide your team with more lockdown and a very powerful disable.
Shiva’s Guard
If you’re facing lots of physical damage dealers, then a Shiva’s Guard will tank you and your team up. The active slow is very good against illusion and creep heroes and makes it harder for enemies to move away from you during your Echo Stomp

Situational Items
Force Staff
A Force Staff can be a good item if you are facing lots of slows and is somewhat needed against heroes like Clockwerk and Nature’s Prophet. It’s just an overall great situational item in Dota 2 esports.
Blade Mail
A Blade Mail is a good item against heroes that can burst you down quickly, such as Clinkz or Shadow Fiend.
Vladmir’s Offering
If your team is fighting lots in the mid game, then a Vlads will provide them with a powerful aura that provides armor, regen, damage and lifesteal to nearby allies.
Heaven’s Halberd
A Halberd is a good item against right-click carries as it prevents them from attacking for several seconds, even if they use BKB afterwards. The disarm from a Halberd is more reliable than that from your Agh’s ultimate, and on top of that, it can be used much more frequently.
Solar Crest
A Solar Crest is a good item if you’re facing tanky heroes, or if you want to tank up against right-clickers in the early and mid game. The minus armor and accuracy greatly cripples enemies that could otherwise stand on the front line. It also stacks very well with the base armor removal from Natural Order and results in the target taking a massive amount of physical damage.
Pipe of Insight
If you’re facing lots of magical damage, then a Pipe of Insight may be needed on you, especially if no one else on your team will get one.
Shadow Blade
A Shadow Blade will let you get close enough to enemies to cast an Echo Stomp on them if they don’t have high mobility. This will allow you to land a very easy Earth Splitter and hopefully get easy pick-offs on solo heroes.
Meteor Hammer
A Meteor Hammer can be a great pickup if you need more disables on your team. The channeling period is somewhat negated by your ability to sleep enemies Echo Stomp, and it makes it much easier to land a good Meteor. The stats it provides are great on ET and is overall a great utility item for him.
Spirit Vessel
A Spirit Vessel can be a good pickup if your team needs an urn or if you are facing enemies with strong healing spells.

Interesting Elder Titan Match-ups
Mobility
Enemies that have high movement speed or spells/items that provide lots of mobility can very easily move out of the way of most of Elder Titan’s Spells. Echo Stomp and Earth Splitter have long cast times and Natural Order requires you or your Astral Spirit to be very close to the enemy to have an effect.
Agility heroes
Agility heroes tend to be carries and in the late game usually have very high armor as a direct result of having high agility. All of the armor they receive from this agility is removed when they are near Elder Titan, and if you manage to stay near them, they will not be able to soak up much physical damage at all.
Lack of stuns
Enemies lineups that lack stuns are usually unable to prevent you from casting Echo Stomp. This means that you can use it much more in the early and mid game, when fights are easier to maneuver
