Enchantress Dota 2 Guide – Take over the jungle in patch 7.14

Enchantress is a jungling support who can dominate the early game through ganks and effective tower pushes. She has very high movement speed, although she is very squishy. For this reason relies on building items that give her a lot of stats and make up for her innate weakness.

Untouchable makes her hard to kill with physical attacks, although she is very vulnerable to burst magical damage. Her ability to take control of jungle creeps allows her to help out her other lanes by harassing their opponents and ganking them with strong neutrals.

Untouchable

Enchantress reduces the attack speed of attacking enemies. This is usually maxed first as it makes you incredibly hard to kill, especially if you are laning Enchantress in the off lane. With a few points in Untouchable, you can tank Roshan very easily. This does not work against buildings however, so you can’t dive towers. Untouchable allows you to trade hits very effectively in the early game and dominate your lane through harass.

Enchant

Enchantress takes control of a creep for several seconds or slows the target enemy hero for a short duration, removing positive buffs from the target. These can essentially serve as your personal Dota 2 wards. Enchant can be used on illusions and this is a very significant point in the late game, as illusion based heroes usually get very strong. Enchant is usually maxed lastly because it only increases it’s duration and reduces the cooldown. If your team lacks much lockdown in the form of stuns or slows, or if you’re against a lineup with lots of buffs, you can put some points into it in the early game – usually 2 points is enough because the duration is increased by roughly 1 second or 50%. You can cast Enchant on your already enchanted creeps to refresh the 80 second duration. It’s often a good idea to Enchant the enemy siege creep to help your tower pushes.

Nature’s Attendants

Enchantress summons a number of spirits to her side that heal any nearby units. Each spirit heals 10 HP per second, healing a random nearby allied target that isn’t at full HP. If you die, your spirits will continue to heal at your location. Nature’s Attendants help your team to push towers and take Roshan more easily and can be used preemptively to keep yourself alive through incoming magical burst damage. The healing lasts for 11 seconds, so you should activate it if you expect to take a lot of damage.

Impetus

Enchantress imbues her attacks with pure magic which deals damage based on how far the attack travels. Aghanim’s Scepter increases your attack range and the cast range of Impetus. The damage is calculated upon impact based on the distance between you and the target, which means that if you turn and run away immediately upon attacking, you will deal more damage than if you were to move closer to the target. Use this knowledge in conjunction with Enchantress’ high movement speed to kite enemies and deal lots of damage through Impetus.


Talents

Level 10: +25 Movement Speed or +15% Magic Resistance

If you can get away with the extra movement speed, it will help you to kite enemies and use Impetus more effectively. If you are facing lots of magical damage and need to tank up, then you’ll probably find more use out of the magic resistance.

Level 15: +50 Damage or +8 Nature’s Attendants Wisps

In general, the extra damage is a better talent choice, as Enchantress is a right-clicking hero in the mid and late game. The extra wisps can be a good choice if you need more sustain in team-fights and you already have enough damage on your team.

Level 20: +100 Untouchable Slow or Enchant Affects Ancients

If enemies mostly have physical damage, then you should go for the Untouchable Slow. The Ancient Creeps can be good if you need to siege the enemies high ground, or if you can’t contribute much to fights in general. It depends also a bit on how many Breaks/Hexes/BKBs the enemies have, if they can easily get around Untouchable, then the Ancients might be better anyway.

Level 25: +25 Nature’s Attendants Heal or +8% Impetus Damage

In most situations you will want the extra Impetus damage as it helps you deal more damage in team-fights. However, if you or your allies need more sustainability, then the extra heal can be very strong, especially if you chose the extra wisps at level 15. At level 4 it can potentially heal 6300 HP if both talents were selected or 3500, which is 2500 more than usual. Overall, the impetus damage is more preferable unless you need more sustain during fights.


What Items to build on Enchantress

Starting Items

Enchantress has the highest base movement speed in Dota 2 esports, and with Boots of Speed she can kite enemies and get kills very easily in the early game. However, Enchantress is very squishy and has quite poor stat gain and for these reasons, buying stats for her with the starting gold is usually the best way to go. Iron Branches and Circlets can be built into a Magic Wand and a Drum of Endurance later and can give you lots more HP.

Early Game Items

Magic Wand

A Magic Wand is very good on Enchantress because she is very squishy, which means that the HP restored is a larger portion of her total HP. She is also very active in the early game which gives her many opportunities to gain charges.

Phase Boots

Phase Boots give Ench more damage in the early game and increase her already incredibly high movement speed. High movement speed is important on Enchantress because it allows her to position herself for Impetus and makes her harder to kill and allows her to get chase kills more easily.

Power Treads

Power Treads can be switched to strength when you need to tank up and intelligence when you need to cast Impetus. If you need more stats in the early game, then Power Treads will help you more.

Drum of Endurance

A Drum will give you more stats in the early game which is important for Enchantress because her stats are very low. They give your team more utility and help you fight in the early and mid game.

Dragon Lance

A Dragon Lance is another item that is relatively cheap and which provides you with lots of stats. Most importantly, it also provides you with more attack range, which means you can deal more Impetus damage and get kills more easily.

Hood of Defiance

Enchantress is very vulnerable to magic damage because she has very little HP. Untouchable helps her against physical damage, and if you get a Hood, you’ll tank up more against magical damage as well.

Mid Game Items

Hurricane Pike

A Dragon Lance can be built into a Hurricane Pike if you need more mobility to escape heroes that can kill you if they get on top of you, such as Ursa or Clockwerk. Even if you don’t need to escape from particular heroes, the ability to kite heroes and get a massive amount of distance on your Impetus attacks.

Aghanim’s Scepter

Aghanim’s Scepter is always a good item on Enchantress at one point or another in the game. It gives Impetus more range and thereby more damage. It also gives her loads of stats which tank her up lots in the mid-to-late game.

Black King Bar

If you face lots of magical damage or disables, then you should get a BKB as it will improve your survivability massively.

Spirit Vessel

A Spirit Vessel will increase the healing done by Nature’s Attendants when used on an ally and will almost prevent enemies from healing when used offensively. The stats it provides will also help to tank Enhantress up.

Late Game Items

Scythe of Vyse

A Scythe of Vyse will give you lots of mana and mana regeneration, allowing you to use Impetus more in fights. It will also give you a very strong disable at all stages in the game.

Shiva’s Guard

A Shiva’s Guard can be a good item if you are taking lots of physical damage from enemies. You will need lots of intelligence in the late game to use Impetus effectively, which is why either a Scythe or a Shiva’s Guard is a good pickup.

Moon Shard

A Moon Shard should be gotten after filling up your inventory as it will help you deal more DPS.

Situational Items

Lotus Orb

A Lotus Orb can be good on Enchantress if you can make effective use out of the purge and Echo Shell.

Linken’s Sphere

If you are facing strong single-target spells like Doom or Flaming Lasso, you will probably need a Linken’s Sphere to allow you to contribute to team-fights and not get killed very quickly.

Heaven’s Halberd

A Halberd can be a good item against carries that are causing a lot of trouble to your team. Typical heroes are Phantom Assassin, Ursa and Clinkz.

Rod of Atos

A Rod of Atos is a good item against heroes that are hard to lockdown. The stats it provides are very useful for Enchantress as well.

Hand of Midas

If the game is likely to go well into the late game and you need to fulfill a semi-carry role, then you can get a Hand of Midas in the early game.

Solar Crest

If you are facing tanky heroes or heroes with evasion, then getting a Solar Crest can be a good item. It will tank you up when not active and make you a more effective ganker.

Pipe of Insight

A Pipe of Insight can be a good item if you face lots of magical damage and no one else on your team will get one. The problem with a Pipe is that it doesn’t help you to do what Enchantress does best – kiting people and using Impetus. This item is better used on some of the best hard supports in Dota 2.

Blink Dagger

If you feel that you need the extra mobility that a Blink Dagger provides, then it can help you to kite and chase enemies more easily. It can be a good item against heroes that are very mobile.

Kaya

If you’re facing any mana drain abilities, then a Kaya will help you to deal with that. The reduced mana cost is very helpful for Impetus as well, as the spell is very costly for Enchantress’ mana. The spell amplification is also very nice for Impetus and will give you a nice and relatively cheap damage boost.

Monkey King Bar

An MKB will give you lots of accuracy against evasion and a chance to deal bonus Pure damage. This stacks quite well with the pure damage from Impetus and the attack speed will be a nice DPS boost.

Interesting Enchantress Match-ups

Windranger

Windranger’s ultimate Focus Fire is still very effective against Untouchable, which makes Windranger a very strong counter to Enchantress.

Phantom Assassin

Phantom Assassin’s Stifling Dagger, Phantom Strike and Coup de Grace are very good counters to Untouchable and Enchantress’ low HP pool. In addition to this, the evasion provided by Blur makes it hard for Impetus hits to land.

Ursa

Overpower is a very good counter to Untouchable, and Ursa can reduce a large portion of the incoming damage of Impetus with Enrage.

Illusion heroes

Enchantress can Enchant illusions which is particularly strong against Phantom Lancer, whose illusions can duplicate upon attacking. This is also very strong against heroes like Spectre and Anti-Mage.
