Escape from Tarkov players are fully appreciative of the game’s core mechanic that sees the platform being reset by Battlestate Games once every six months or so. It’s referred to as a ‘wipe’ and it typically brings massive updates to the game as well as putting everyone back on a level pegging, forcing them to effectively restart the game. It’s often tough to predict when this global reset will arrive, but today, we’re answering one core question: ‘When is the next Tarkov wipe?’
There’s nothing that Tarkov players relish more than getting reset, as strange as that sounds. Traditionally, the wipe sees millions of players flock to the platform, eager to start their adventure again from the bottom rung and start climbing that challenging ladder. In the history of Tarkov wipes, every single reset has brought about epic changes to the game – so that’s another layer of things to look forward to for players around the world.

It’s worth stressing that Tarkov isn’t the only game to experience ‘wipes’, but it’s arguably the game that makes them seem the most exciting. In Escape From Tarkov, many players will find themselves dramatically overpowered in their endgame within a series of weeks following a wipe. They’ll have the best weapons, the best ammunition types, and the strongest armour. They’ll be more or less unstoppable, and as everyone else catches up, Escape From Tarkov becomes increasingly difficult.
With the next Tarkov wipe taking place, even the most skilled and well-equipped players are instantly forced to run low-tier armour and wield weaker weapons. Sure, they’ll be levelled up again in no time at all, but it’s a great measure that ensures that – even for a brief period – every player has the same chances as the other to crack on with the game.
They’re also an opportunity for the developer, Battlestate Games, to incorporate fresh content into the game in the form of a massive update. Typically, a wipe in Tarkov signals the arrival of huge changes or additions, and in the past, these amendments have been so sizeable that they’ve changed the course of the game entirely. These changes are all being placed on the road to Escape from Tarkov 1.0, which is the highly anticipated ‘full release’ of the game.
Battlestate Games typically pushes out two wipes per year, one in the summer and another in the winter. There are usually around six months between wipes, which means there’s a fairly reliable rule of thumb to follow. With that in mind, we can make an educated guess as to when the next Escape from Tarkov wipe will be.
The next Tarkov wipe should land in June 2024, and the wipe after that should hit in December 2024. That’s per the roadmap built up by Battlestate Games. In a recent interview, the head of the studio at ‘BSG’, Nikita Buyanov, stressed that there will be two wipes this year ‘just like normal’. That means that players will flood back into the game in June and December, which is fairly typical for the Escape from Tarkov ecosystem.
