In fighting games, only a few tournaments are on the same level as EVO. The series has long been the pinnacle of the genre in the West. The tournament is still quite a while away, but we’re getting our first EVO 2024 announcements thick and fast now including the full line up of EVO 2024 games.
The last year has been a big one for fighting game esports. We’ve seen huge releases like Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, and Tekken 8. EVO is a celebration of all things fighting games, but these big games are definitely some of the largest draws. As our first year with all three new huge games here, the EVO 2024 tournament looks like it’s going to be one of the biggest we’ve ever seen. What’s going to be featured at EVO 2024?
The build-up has started for one of the biggest fighting game events of the year. We’ve gotten confirmation of the EVO 2024 line up. These are all of the main games that will receive full tournaments at EVO 2024. It includes most of the big hitters, like the recently released Tekken 8. However, there’s always a few more surprising picks.

The inclusions this year are definitely varied. Getting a main event for Street Fighter 3 will be fun, it’s also great to see Under Night making the main stage. In terms of brand-new fighters, we have quite a few making their first appearance at this level of EVO. MK 1, Tekken 8, Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, and Under Night are all here for the first time. SF 6 is only here for the second time, after being the headline event at EVO 2023.
This is an exciting mix of games. So far, we’ve predictably seen Street Fighter 6 lead registrations. The others aren’t too far behind as well. Fighting game esports are enjoying a big surge in interest lately, and with a line-up like this, it’s easy to see why.
This week, an announcement has been made for EVO. A special stream or EVO 2024 announcement show has been revealed. This will be a dedicated event to preview the first details of EVO 2024. The announcement will be taking place next week. We’ll see it happen on February 6 at these times.
That’s when you can catch the announcement. The stream will go over some of the initial details for EVO 2024, unveiling its expansions and how it’ll work this year. We already have a good idea of a few features at this year’s tournament, though.
We can definitely expect big new tournaments for SF 6, MK 1, and Tekken 8. These three series have always been featured at EVO and the new games have only increased the hype for the tournament. We can probably also expect some more of the “reveal” type videos that have become a more prominent feature alongside the esports tournaments. However, we can expect plenty of smaller games to pop up here too. We’ll likely find out more about the exact games featured soon.
The EVO 2024 announcement will be our first chance to see the initial details of this event. Let’s hope there’s enough announced to start building hype for the biggest EVO to date.
