It’s part of what adds so much character to the game, but it can make it difficult to know much about the characters. They can be of massively wavering ages and its tricky to actually see how old just anyone is. Squiggly is a perfect example of this.
The character might appear one age, but has more years of experience. A lot of skullgirls characters are like this, but Squiggly’s age is especially weird with there being two different and totally valid answers! How Old is Squiggly in Skullgirls?
In Skullgirls, Squiggly is basically a zombie! She’s dead and being kept partially alive with a parasite! Being kind of dead obviously complicates how old is Squiggly in Skullgirls. At the time of her death, she was just 14. This does put her on the younger side of these Skullgirls characters. However, some time has passed since she first died. She’d be better described as 28 now.
Squiggly being undead makes it difficult to pick an age. Physically she’s still basically 14. Although, she has lived an extra 14 years in a bit of a different body. As she’s now only half alive, she won’t age any further. Her on paper age might keep ticking up, but physically she’s just frozen at the time of her death.
These kinds of technicalities aren’t that uncommon in the genre. It’s a way of depicting a character who is younger, while having them technical be older. A lot of Skullgirls characters look similar but are simply drawn that way, being actually older. Squiggly’s backstory definitely makes her an interesting part of the Skullgirls cast though.
