A new King of Fighters XIII Open Beta has just been announced! Following on from our last early test, we’ll be seeing another chance for players to try the game out. In October, a new test is taking place. This is specifically to try out an improved version of matchmaking. While we’re still in early access, the title has already had a few updates to try and improve the performance for players.

From October 3 to October 9th, we’ll be seeing the remake of KoF 8 get a new test period. The entire remake is being built around its improved online with rollback netcode. This makes these initial tests for the online pretty important, they’re showing off one of the more key aspects of the brand-new title.

Players eligible for the new October test will be able to jump in and try the game out again. Releasing in November, we’re getting pretty close to the full game dropping. Coming for PlayStation and Switch it’s a more limited release. However, as a big addition to one of the better fighting games in the KoF series, it’s not an instalment to be missed.

Past KoF 8 Betas

King of Fighters XIII Global Match is the next title coming up for the long-running series. The game was originally announced at EVO Japan 2023, as an ultimate edition and improved version of the King of Fighters game. News has been slow since the initial reveal but it looks like we’re getting a much closer look at the title soon, with a King of Fighters XIII Open Beta kicking off pretty soon!

King of Fighters XIII Open Beta First Beta in June

The original King of Fighters XIII was an arcade game that eventually made its way over to Xbox 360, PlayStation, and PC. That was back in 2010, SNK are revisiting this version of the franchise soon though, and they’ve made some big improvements. This will be a much more polished version, notably sporting rollback netcode. This is going to be a huge improvement.

If fans want to try the new King of Fighters XIII Open beta out, it’s exclusive to one platform. The Global Match beta will be available only to those on PlayStation. Although, you don’t need PSN to access the beta, just be a user of the console. It won’t be a full Open Beta of everything, but a crazy amount of the final game’s content will be on offer.

In the King of Fighters XIII Open Beta you’re able to access all 32 characters on the roster! That’s huge, especially compared to recent two-character Street Fighter 6 demos. There are also three different modes. Practise ode, for actually learning characters, Customize Mode, and Online mode for testing out all that practice! More than enough space to try out the rollback netcode.

Since this is a sizeable Open Beta, it isn’t going to be available forever as a demo or anything. Instead, It was first accessible from June 5th to June 11th. However, with a third KoF Beta now announced too players can jump back into the game once again.
