
MultiVersus Offline Modes – How Can You Play?
Can you actually even play MultiVersus offline? The game has previously had some options for playing offline, but that’s changed. Multiversus is a fun fighter but one that’s definitely focused online. It’s a live service game that really would rather players stayed connected.
A big part of playing fighters though is always offline play. It’s offline where you lab, learn combos, hone your skills, and generally get your skills up to par. Not to mention playing in-person matches with better performance. Does MultiVersus have offline?
MultiVersus might be primarily geared around online fights, but in the past, it had a dedicated offline with limited options. With the new MutiVersus rollback, they’re definitely pushing online as the main event here. You could have even played some very limited parts of the game offline while it was completely offline to be redone for this relaunch. These are the offline options to play MultiVersus.

You can’t really play MultiVersus offline anymore. The game has the option for local play, but you’ll need a connection to access the title for the most part. There are some elements like training that can be used in the safe offline mode, but the game will immediately try to connect when you load it up.
This is about enough to try and lab out combos and some of the more technical parts of getting good at fighting games. It isn’t exactly the spread we expect from most fighters though. Even primarily offline fighting games normally offer more than this. We might be able to expect a few more additions to come down the line though. Getting rid of offline practice for unpurchased characters has been an unpopular move, so that could come back soon.
We already know MultiVersus Ranked is coming back. We could get more offline options eventually. At the moment, you’re largely limited to online the game though.
Is MultiVersus Getting a Story Mode?

MultiVersus already offers fights and a new variety game modes, but what about a full story mode? Most fighters’ biggest offline content is from this kind of thing. MultiVersus doesn’t have a story mode. We do get some limited cut scenes and other promotional art from time to time with the characters all crossing over. It isn’t quite the same as a full story, but this is probably it for story content for the time being.
