Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising has had a big first year, and it’s rolling into its second character pass now. This means a brand-new fighter is getting added to the roster soon, Sandalphon. They’ll be the 35th character to join the roster! While it’s not quite at Smash Bros size yet, it’s definitely getting up there at this point. What can we expect?
This week, we’ve seen some fighting game news come out about the first character for the second pass. After a pretty successful first, it’s been followed up by even more expansions. Starting in February, when we get our first new character for the game.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising has just had a new trailer released, for its latest character Sandalphon. We can see quite a bit about how they’ll play here!
When exactly will Sandalphon be released in the game though? The character’s release date has been confirmed with this recent news. It’s going to be February 26th. So just a few weeks away until players can try everything out for themselves. After that, we’ve got quite a few more characters still to come in this round of additional content. By the time we’re done, Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising might be one of the best fighting games in recent years.

The new character is starting out a second pass. It’s definitely a healthy sign for the title. Some of the more recent Arc System Works games have had a worse time on release and have seen support drop away a bit. Granblue has proven a bit more of a hit though, with the series’ second game looking like a secure part of the Arc roster for a while to come. This second character pass has the potential to really open things up for gameplay as the Granblue Fantasy characters roster gets even more varied.
