New Characters and More Coming for Skullgirls 12th Anniversary

Fighting Games are one of the oldest esports out there with roots tracing back to 1-v-1s in arcades on the earliest machines. However, while its franchises are older, many games have a shorter shelf-life. There are exceptions to this though, fighters that have a staying power to stick around well beyond their normal lifespan. Melee is maybe the most famous, but Skullgirls now has an impressive life too. This year, we’re reaching the Skullgirls 12th Anniversary. The updates aren’t slowing down either.

It’s rare for a fighter to stay active for over a decade. Rarer still is a game still getting support 12 years after it was first released. Skullgirls has grown a lot in those 12 years However, it’s remained a compelling title that attracts players from around the world to compete in competitive fighting game esports events. The developers are pushing the boat out to celebrate this new anniversary. They’ve just announced some of the new content that’s coming this year.

What’s Coming for the Skullgirls 12th Anniversary?

The 12th Anniversary of Skullgirls is definitely going to be a cause for celebration. What new stuff is being released to celebrate it though? Skullgirls has announced a few new features that are coming. These are starting with the next update. It’s the Valentine’s Cross update. This should help the core game stay fresh and exciting even this many years into its life.

The next is the Skullgirls Championship Series 2024 finale. This will be a fighting game event held to celebrate the best players in Skullgirls. We’ll see the top fighters going to head-to-head here.

The other major announcement so far has been Minette. They’re coming to Skullgirls mobile. That’s the version of Skullgirls that’s free! This mode is getting Minette added along with other characters. This will spice things up for mobile players.

Skullgirls has grown a lot over 12 years. It’s become a pretty expansive game, now stretching over both console sides of the game and mobile. Skullgirls is still going strong after all this time though, with more updates coming year round. It’s great to see so much announced for this coming year of Skullgirls.
