Verix is New Guilty Gear Strive AWT Champion for 2023
This weekend saw the conclusion to a year’s worth of esports events for Guilty Gear Strive. The Arc World Tour Finals wrapped up 2023’s competitive year, in March 2024. Quite a few major players took part, including heavy hitters like UMISHO, Leffen, and TempestNYC. Who ultimately claimed victory though? At the conclusion of the tournament, it was Verix who became the new champion for the Arc World Tour and Guilty Gear Strive.
The Arc World Tour 2023 Finals began with a group stage, where we saw all of the qualified players compete. Everyone who made it this far won a different event, or the last chance Qualifier. By the time things narrowed down to the final bracket, there was only a handful of remaining players with a shot at the title. How did Verix win?

Verix is the New Guilty Gear Strive Champion
At the opening of the bracket, Verix had already moved to the top of the pack. He was one of four players to start out in the semi-finals. Here he faced one of the strongest GGS players, UMISHO. In a show of things to come, UMISHO just lost out to Verix here, 3-2.
This cleared things for the next stage, Verix up against TempestNYC. Once again it was a close match, but it was ultimately won 3-2. Now secured in the finals, it definitely looked like Verix could go all the way. First though, he’d need to take down Slash.
Slash had fought his way back up to the final after losing. In the kind of run that’s always a highlight of fighting game esports, he came all the way up from the second losers’ round. In the Grand Finale, it was Slash up against Verix. This was definitely a pretty close round. Verix did come out ahead, but once again the winning margin as pretty close at 3-2.
Verix had a number of close rounds all through the Arc World Tour Finals. However, by the end of the weekend it was clear he was the superior player. He walks away as the new Champion for Guilty Gear Strive, the best player active in one of the biggest fighting games right now.
