When are All the Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 Tournaments?
The new Fortnite season is here, and it’s pretty different. We normally expect a big change in the meta for new seasons, but with overpowered cars absolutely everywhere, the ability to immediately burst into any box, and not much of a focus on guns, we’re looking at a very different game for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 tournaments. It’s one of the weirder seasons in a while.
Along with our initial news about the season’s big changes, Epic has unveiled the spread of tournaments we’re getting this season. Now we’ve played a bit of this new season too, it’s clear there’s some big changes. How will Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 tournaments work?

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 Tournaments
The new tournaments this season offer a great spread of different events. We’ve got the final Major for the 2024 FNCS as a start. That’s the biggest event. However, Epic will be hosting quite a few different tournaments. These are the main events that are being held for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 tournaments:
- FNCS Major 3
- Ranked Cups – Unique for each rank
- Open Cups – Tournaments without a rank requirement
- Cash Cups – Individual events with cash prizes
- Victory Cash Cups – Events with cash for Victory Royales
- Duos Console Cash Cups – Console only tournaments
- PlayStation Cups – PlayStation exclusive cups
Across these events, we’ll see tournaments for every rank and even different platforms. Fortnite Mix Up Mondays have been taken out this time round unfortunately. With new events like Open Cups though it’s still a pretty big calendar. There’s more opportunities to compete for cash prizes than past Fortnite seasons too, so prize pools are stepped up too.
Changes in Tournament Gameplay

Those are the tournaments, Epic has a bit of a weird system for tournaments though We’ve got pubs, with its standard playlist and no rank. Then there’s Fortnite Ranked mode, with the exact same loot pool and rules. If you get high enough you can compete in tournaments, which have an entirely unique build of the game that you can’t practise anywhere else. There are always a few changes compared to the base game, with these items removed:
- Bulletproof Tires
- Chonkers Off-Road Tires
- Cow Catchers
- Driveable Vehicles
- Grenade Launcher Turrets
- Machine Gun Turrets
- Off-Road Tires
- Repair Boxes
- Repair Torches
- Service Stations
- Shockwave Grenades
- Spiked Bumpers
- Vehicle Mod Boxes
- War Busses
Yeah, pretty much all the major new driving mechanics have been taken out. This is probably a good thing given how wacky they are. The loot pool at the moment will still have multiple crazy ways to immediately get into builds though, so we might be looking at a bit of a different meta this season.
How Will the Meta hold up for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 Tournaments?
Those are the tournaments, but the bigger question this season is how this will even play in tournaments. We’ve already seen major Fortnite streamers like Ninja essentially rage quit the new season. The alterations to gameplay are going to make things play very differently.
OP items and mechanics are often kind of ignored by Fortnite pros. They prefer the more core box fighting, building, and shotgun gameplay. However, where there overpowered items exist playrs will always make use of them. Cars at the opening seem like they’ll be a major part of all the tournaments. They don’t have mods anymore, but features like regenerating health for boss cars might keep them relevant.
Separately, we have multiple ways to destroying builds at the moment. There are the new gauntlets and even Nitro which lets you smash your way in. Both of these could mean pretty different gameplay.
Fortnite leaks are pointing towards guns making a comeback later though. We know Epic is planning a new Fortnite sniper which could partially counter cars. We can probably also expect some nerfs, at least to the boss vehicles. By the time we get to the FNCS for this season, we might have a more standard meta for Fortnite.
In the meantime, tournaments really are going to be interesting. We’ll have to wait until the tournaments begin to see just how this major evolution in Fortnite is changing how it’s played. We might be looking at tournaments that feel completely different to what we’ve seen before.
