Fortnite DC Skins Get Go Ahead After MultiVersus Shutdown

Fortnite’s become a monster when it comes to crossovers, taking everything in pop culture and putting it into the world of Battle Royale. Superheroes are, if anything, overrepresented in Fortnite. However, lately, it’s been purely Marvel showing up. Fortnite DC skins have been missing in action for quite a while, but they’re finally about to start returning to the item shop. With some of the most popular characters back in Fortnite.

These skins feature some of the most iconic characters we’ve ever seen in Fortnite collabs, like Batman and Superman. However, thanks to some strange decisions from Warner Bros they’ve been largely missing in Fortnite. After much discussion from fans waiting to pick up one version of some of these big characters, they’ve gotten their answer this week. Sets of Fortnite DC skins will be returning to the item shop. What’s coming back and what’s changed to bring them back?

MultiVersus Shutdown Opens Door to More Fortnite DC Skins

According to Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR, DC skins will be coming back in much bigger numbers soon. Warner Bros own crossover game, MultiVerus has shut down. This game was seemingly the bigger hurdle to skins coming back.

With the shutdown of Multiversus, Wanrer bors Games is looking increasingly light. Especially when you only consider live service game, now with two high profile and expensive flops. According to leakers, a desire to concentrate their IP in their own titles was behind the lack of Fortnite DC skins over recent years. We’ve already seen some skins return to the shop. However, with the other games now fully shut down, it seems there will be an even bigger commitment to games like Fortnite.

It seems Warner Bros current approach to using their IP in video games includes a desire to “double-down” on collabs like Fortnite. This might mean we start to see newer DC skins arrive in greater numbers. There are tons of characters who are yet to be featured in Fortnite. Plus, characters like Batman have iconic designs yet to make the game. In the future we could see many Fortnite Batman skins as there are Spider-Man skins.

The MultiVersus shut down is disappointing for its fans. Especially those who pre-purchased way more characters than will ever exist, thanks to how the shut down is being handled. Fortnite-devotees might be happy to see the characters return. There will likely be even more unvaulted skins over the next few months.

Fortnite DC Skins Returning

After the first teases came over the last few months, we’ve now got confirmation of more Fortnite DC Skins returning! Officially, Epic has confirmed a number of them are going to be coming back soon.

In a recent tweet, Epic confirmed that Fortnite DC skins are coming back. It’s been a bit of a weird journey for these skins lately. Going from a major part of the item shop, to pretty much never coming back. However, it seems whatever went wrong between Epic and Warner Bros games has been resolved. We’re expecting to see DC skins returning starting this week in Chapter 6. Including the Starfire Fortnite skin making a return.

Starting this week, Fortnite DC skins are finally making a return. We’ve seen their files updated for a little while now, meaning a return was imminent. However, Epic’s just confirmed it. They’ll be cycled through the shop over the coming weeks. Not as a special event, but just a return for these skins. This might mean the Fortnite DC skins are finally back in the normal rotation.

What’s particularly interesting is what skins were used to demonstrate this. We know Catwoman is due to return. However, more surprising skins like Starfire were included in the promotional artwork. Hopefully, this means the breadth of Fortnite DC skins will be returning soon.

DC Skins Coming Back After Lengthy Absence

The Item Shop changes every day, but thanks to Fortnite leaks we sometimes know what’s coming ahead of time. While we don’t have a release date just yet, the last update included some changes behind the scenes. Two different cosmetic sets have been updated in game.

The first is Black Adam, a Fortnite DC skin which was last seen over 700 days ago. He’s gotten an update with a new Lego Fortnite style! He’ll be fully playable in that game mode. The other change is to the Caped Crusader Pack.

These changes were part of the latest Fortnite update and it often means they’ll be coming back to the store soon. However, Fortnite DC skins have been missing for quite a while.

A lot of fans assumed this was because of the increased Fortnite Disney involvement and Marvel, but it’s more likely because of a change in Warner Bros. They’ve been focusing on their own games for these kinds of collabs, like MultiVersus. However, with these latest changes, it looks like Fortnite and DC are back working together in some form! Hopefully, this means the gates are open for more collaboration in the future and even more Fortnite skins of DC characters.
