(Don’t) clear your calendars, because the official Fortnite downtime schedule has been revealed. Over the next few months, there will be quite a few updates to Epic Games’ hit battle royale. Many of these will require some downtime as they’re expected to be rather substantial. Downtimes are a necessary evil for live service games, but Epic has done everyone the courtesy of setting the schedule plainly in advance. During that time, gamers won’t be able to play Fortnite. Fortunately, they have time to plan for that in advance.

According to ShiinaBR, Epic Games has confirmed the Fortnite downtime schedule for the next eight updates. These updates are largely staged, and Epic knows when they’ll be sent to the game, which means they know when downtime is going to be. Here’s what the schedule looks like:
How long is Fortnite downtime has not been specified, but the dates are clear. There will be eight more updates, including the season change, between now and the middle of October. ShiinaBR is more known for leaks than official news, but they stated that Epic has confirmed this. They also provided the caveat that these dates are subject to change if Epic needs to delay anything. Each update is expected to have downtime, but not much. Aside from the season change on August 16, most of these won’t be that large and thus won’t have that much downtime.
Still, there are going to be several time periods where the game is inaccessible, so be sure to plan for something else to play on those days. Downtime has in the past run for a couple of hours, so you might be without Fortnite for more time than you’d like. Beyond October 15, there’s no telling when the next updates are, but it’s a treat that any of them are known this far in advance.
