How Do the Fortnite Save the World V Buck Missions Work?

Fortnite didn’t originate as a Battle Royale, Save the World still has its own dedicated player base. While Save the World doesn’t get updates like BR anymore, the game does still have its uses for players. One of the big ones is collecting V-Bucks. Epic offers extra currency for those who played the game early. This is actually still in the game as Fortnite Save the World V Buck Missions! A chance to get regular V-Bucks, if you’re one of a lucky few.

These are a way for you to collect v-Buck to spend in the Fortnite Item Shop. What’s really special is this isn’t an insignificant amount. Players can unlock way more V-Bucks this way than just by completing the Battle Pass each season. However, it’s limited to specific V Buck missions and only for players who got into the game early enough. This is how the Fortnite Save the World V Buck Missions work:

What are Fortnite Save the World V Buck Missions?

V Buck missions are a key part of Save the World. However, they’re only accessible through some specific quests. These are the quests which reward V-Bucks in Save the World:

  • Daily Quests
  • Storm Shield Defence
  • Timed Challenges

Essentially the reward varies. Some days you’ll find V-Bucks missions, a lot of days you don’t. Most players just work checking for them into their daily routine. You can find alerts for specific missions on the map. They’ll usually have the time you can take to complete it visible too.

The biggest source of these will probably be daily quests. When you log into Save the World you’ll be able to find these quests. You can also check through the other challenges to see if anything else is awarding V-Bucks at the moment like the timed challenges. These are often Mini-Boss V Buck Missions.

For the timed missions, they tend to change regularly. If you’re saving up for new Fortnite skins with the free V-Bucks, you’ll have to stay on top of these timed mission drops. FreetheVBucks is a helpful tool for this, it scrapes the game to check for V-Bucks each day.

How Many V-Bucks?

The big question with the Fortnite Save the World V-Buck Missions might be, how many can you actually earn? It’s pretty varied, but lately they’ve been quieter.
2024 saw over 40,000 V-Bucks available to be earned. 29,000 from Daily Quests. In 2023, it was around 36,000. However, this year has had fewer. We’ve had stretches of days without any,
It’s simply a matter of checking in and seeing if they’re available. We’re still seeing enough V-Bucks coming from the quests to make it worthwhile, but fans have to be on top of their missions to make sure they don’t miss any.

Who Can Earn V-Bucks?

That’s how the Fortnite Save the World V-Buck missions work, but they aren’t accessible to everyone. For a start, you need Save the World, the tower defense part of Fortnite. However, there’s another condition here too.

The game has two types of players, founders and non-founders. Founders are players who bought the game when it was paid. Essentially, someone who was a player closer to when Fortnite came out. Non-founders are everyone else.

Unless you got Save the World on time, there’s no V Bucks waiting for in Save the World, no matter how many missions you complete. A lot of players have randomly ended up with a version of Save of the World over the years. However, only Founders can get the V-Bucks.

If you had the game before June 2020, then you can get V-Bucks. If not, you can’t. It’s nice that Epic rewards long time players, frustrating if you haven’t made the cut off to earn V-Bucks though.
