Fortnite Brings Back Shredder Skin in Shocking Move

In the Item Shop presently is the Fortnite Shredder skin. This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles crossover outfit has been a fan favorite since its introduction, and plenty of players enjoy wearing it as they traverse the island in search of Victory Royales. Now, so many more players will be able to get their hands on the skin, which is a surprising change given the former exclusivity of this skin in particular. The TMNT skins, namely the turtles themselves, were always Item Shop skins, but Shredder wasn’t.

Fortnite Sends Shredder to Item Shop

When skins are in the Item Shop, they can theoretically return whenever. The Weeknd was an Item Shop skin and despite him being tied to Fortnite Festival Season 1, he’s been back plenty. Other skins can have lengthy waits, but they all usually come back at some point. What has historically not come back are all the other skins. Epic Games, with the addition of Shredder to the shop, is continuing to walk back exclusivity.

Shredder was initially part of the Mini-Pass for TMNT. In the Cowabunga Event, which took place in February 2024, Shredder was the prize for the Premium Track on that pass. Players who spent 1,000 V-Bucks and completed all the challenges would unlock the skin. They were the only ones who could. The same thing applied to Aang, Jack Sparrow, and others on Mini-Passes. Now, Shredder may be the first in a trend of bringing back once somewhat exclusive Fortnite skins.

Fortnite recently confirmed that battle pass skins would not be exclusive moving forward. Beginning with Chapter 5 Season 4, skins on the pass could eventually return for an individual cost in the Item Shop. Of course, that will be more expensive, but players with the Battle Pass may not be the only ones who can get the Mysterio, Peelverine, or Emma Frost skins at some point.

Slowly but surely, Epic is making almost everything available to almost everyone. That doesn’t include previous battle pass skins, but it will for all moving forward. That may also include those on Mini-Passes for events.
