What is the Big Fortnite Unban Wave?
The Fortnite Unban wave has begun. It’s been a controversial topic since we first heard it was in the plans. However, it’s now getting underway and we’re beginning to see which players are being unbanned. It definitely looks like players who have broken the rules are getting a big second chance. Although, it probably shouldn’t effect the integrity of tournaments.
In 2025, Epic has been massively cracking down on cheaters. Banning more accounts, removing Fortnite esports tournaments with cash that’s too easy to cheat in. Their efforts have cleaned up a lot of tournaments. But coming with that, they’ve decided to give past cheaters another chance. A hug Fortnite unban wave. The idea of ancient accounts who broke the rules coming back doesn’t exactly inspire confidence, but how bad is the Fortnite unban wave really going to be?

Fortnite Unban Wave Begins at Last
After some build up, and dread on the behalf of some Fortnite players, the unban wave is starting. This new wave is bringing back players who broke the rules. However, it seems there’s a specific way they’re being unbanned. This is the criteria:
- Cheaters who have banned for over a year already, no one banned more recently
- Tournament cheaters aren’t unbanned from tournaments. They can play pubs, but they can’t compete.
- Other lifetime bans still in effect
- Anyone who sold cheats won’t be included in the Fortnite unban wave.
That’s who is getting unbanned. Older rule breakers, and only those who used actual Fortnite cheats. The players banned for things like buying or selling Fortnite accounts still aren’t unbanned. Apparently messing with Epic’s V-Buck income is a much worse crime than ruining a tournament.
Then there’s the other details, it’s only older cheaters and they won’t be able to play in tournaments. These two conditions do make it feel a bit safer. At least we know players won’t be back in tournaments. Although, with how easy it is to make a Fortnite account, anyone who really wanted to mess around in BR again probably was already doing so.
Can Cheaters Come Back to Tournaments?
One thing about the Fortnite unban wave that’s made people uncomfortable is the idea of repeat offenders. They got banned once, what’s the guarantee they’ll behave this time? It’s likely the hope is that they’ve learned their lesson. However, it doesn’t apply to esports. There are no second chances coming there.
Players are quite upset about the Fortnite unban wave. It’s worth keeping in mind how easy it is to start over in Fortnite and just make a second account. So players who wanted to get around their ban probably already have. Essentially, while it’s annoying to see cheaters getting another chance, the unban wave doesn’t really change things.
the video was fakke someone just buyed an old fn account look was made on discord
No every cheater that cheated over 1 year ago gets unbanned
