When the Fortnite Battle Pass first dropped, fans immediately took notice of the secret skin for Chapter 5 Season 3: Wastelander Magneto. Marvel collaborations are always popular, and there have been several characters involved in battle passes over the years. The only downside to characters like the new Magneto is that they’re not immediately available. Players can grind or buy levels to unlock the T-60 Power Armor or Megalo Don if they want, but the secret skins require a lot of patience. Here’s when players will be able to stop waiting.

According to the in-game timer, Wastelander Magneto and all his cosmetics will be released on July 2, 2024. That means players still have to wait a little while, but it’s right around one month. In the grand scheme of things, the wait time will only be about six weeks. Currently, the only thing players know they are getting is the skin. There will be one alternate style and presumably a back bling, glider, and pickaxe. Those are not yet revealed and instead are covered by question marks in the section of the battle pass.
This skin, as with previous skins of the same type, will be locked behind quests. Normal battle pass skins are tied to level requirements, but not Wastelander Magneto. He, and each of his cosmetics and styles, will be tied to an individual challenge. There are 10 rewards, so 10 new challenges will drop. They will probably be tied to the leaked Mythic items and other parts of the launch event.
Think of the Solid Snake skin that was released in Chapter 5 Season 1. To unlock everything, players had to complete challenges involving stealth and making use of the new items. Those were the Mythic Cardboard Box and the Stealth EMP. The Magneto event will likely be much the same. Fortunately, it won’t expire quickly. Once the challenges go live, they’re available to complete through the end of the current season.
