In Fortnite, OG stands for original. Typically, when people use the term the OG, that’s what it’s short for. However, it isn’t quite used in the same way as we’d use original.
For example, OG the game mode is currently in Season 3. Not exactly the original. Instead, it more generally refers to the earliest period of Fortnite. It’s debateable what seasons now qualify as “OG”. For most though, it would seem to be the whole of Chapter 1. Some might even start to include Chapter 2 in there! That’s definitely a controversial use though, for most OG doesn’t extend to the second map used for the game
To most of the Fortnite player base would understand OG to mean Chapter 1.
OG as used by players of the game and in the game official can be slightly different depending on what it’s describing though.
OG Game Mode and Chapter 1
Fortnite OG is a new game mode that launched along with Chapter 6. It’s a different version of Battle Royale that recreates the earliest seasons of Fortnite. The map, the OG weapons, there all here the same as they were in the past.
The OG mode is often just shortened to the initalis. That’s the most common use of what does OG mean in Fortnite at the moment. Although, players also use it to refer to the first version of these seasons. Generally, the time when the player base was engaged and all of this was brand new. It’s a bit different even if the balance is the same in the new OG mode, players are much more skilled now. So those are two meaning of OG.

Another way that players use OG is to refer to skins. This is to describe skins that come from the earlier days of Fortnite. For many that’s Chapter 1 skins. These include the rarest Fortnite skins, like those that can’t come back to the game anymore.
OG Players
Another stranger use of OG in Fortnite is often to refer to players or Fortnite streamers. Essentially, if a player was around for the earliest part of the game’s lifespan, they might be called OG. There’s definitely a big difference between the best players in Chapter 1 and today.
Those are some different things that OG means in Fortnite. Largely, it refers to the time when the game was in its infancy and players were still trying to figure everything out. Fortnite thrives on constantly moving on to the new. But you’ll find the player base is surprisingly nostalgic for the less developed days of the game’s life.
