The much-awaited Genshin Impact 5.0 update is going live globally on Aug. 28 at 11:00 AM (UTC +8). Starting with the Natlan saga, the patch will introduce new additions including the Pyro nation, characters, quests, and events.

Added to the game are three new playable characters: Hydro character Mualani, Dendro character Kinich, and Geo character Kachina—all hailing from tribes in the region of Natlan. All these new characters will promise a large pool of abilities and playstyles accumulated for that part of the game in order to let players carefully prepare and choose a party from a range of exciting options. In addition to these 4-star weapons, two new 5-star weapons will be introduced: Surf’s Up (Catalyst) and Fang of the Mountain King (Claymore), designed as the signature weapons for Mualani and Kinich, respectively.

The update will also introduce a new artifact domain within the expanded Natlan region, offering players the chance to acquire these sets.

The update will also see the beginning of the Natlan story arc, and with it, Archon Quest Chapter V: Acts I and II, which will serve as the start of the new Tribal Chronicles questline. Players will be able to complete these for rewards like Primogems and character level-up materials. Not only that, but completing Act I will reward a free copy of Kachina.
The game map will include the Natlan region that can be explored to gather collectibles comprising Pyroculus, Treasure Chests, and Pyro Sigils. In terms of a new exploration mechanic, there is a possibility of exploring the environment of Natlan by riding the creature Saurians.
The 5.0 update brings in new additions, with the headline being “Traces of Artistry,” promising fans as usual with thrilling rewards down the road and a complimentary 4-star weapon. The other one is through the region’s two new bosses, Gluttonous Yumkasaur Mountain King and Goldflame Qucusaur Tyrant, which their drops will be key to character progression.

Genshin Impact’s fourth-year anniversary will be celebrated on the 28th of September 2024, and during this event, players can claim the following for free: 5-star Standard banner character, 10 Intertwined Fates, and 1,600 Primogems. The special items available are Firstborn Firesprite pet, Kaboom Box gadget, and Sanctifying Elixir.

The update will bring new TCG cards, including character cards for Xianyun and Freminet, and Action cards with a Natlan theme. Players can also expect a reset of the Imaginarium Theater and Spiral Abyss challenges, with a new Visionary Mode added for extra difficulty.
Further improvements include the introduction of a Quick Start feature for new Archon Quests and increased rewards for completing Natlan-specific objectives. A new World Level 9 will enhance overworld difficulty and offer better enemy drops, while adjustments to enemy drop rates will optimize gameplay.
