Fortnite on mobile devices was a huge part of the game’s community for a while. The answer to how to get Fortnite on iPhone used to be simple, just download it! Then Apple and Epic got into a dramatic and lengthy legal fight. In 2025, Fortnite on iPhone is considerably easier to play for a lot of people.
The game isn’t back on iPhone worldwide. At least not yet. But it’s made massive strides over the last year. We’ve seen territory after territory get involved in Apple’s marketplace, most recently with Fortnite iPhone return in the US. Before that, other regions already brought back the game. Although, there are still some places where the change is lagging behind. Apple shows no sign of allowing the game back without being legally forced to either, so these areas might be waiting a while.
Thankfully, there are workarounds in these regions too. Worldwide, players can play at least a form of Fortnite on iPhone!

Fortnite used to be a mobile app available across every region, on just about every device. Epic eventually cut the game from iPhone though. Fortnite on mobile devices had full tournaments, its own dedicated community, Fortnite ranking system, the whole nine yards. Then Epic decided to take on Apple.
Apple charges a cut of all in-app purchases. If you make a subscription to a service through an app from their store or in-app purchase, they get a percentage. This applied to in-app purchases in Fortnite too, and Epic decided they didn’t want to pay anymore. Fortnite vanished from the Apple store, there was then a tournament and free skin to commemorate it, and a lot of lawsuits. Now, it’s back in quite a few places.
Between changes to how mobile phone stores are regulated and Xbox stepping in, there are new ways for how to play Fortnite on iPhone.
Epic is offering the official Fortnite app again. If you’re in Europe, Brazil, and parts of the NA region it’s available again. Download this and you’ll be able to access the Fortnite iPhone app again.
For most players, it’s as simple as opening the App Store and downloading the game. Elsewhere, you’ll need to go to the official Epic website and follow their steps to install their marketplace on your iPhone.

You won’t be able to get the normal mobile experience, this is a normal version of Fortnite that’s being streamed to your mobile. However, it’s good to get a workaround so every region can play Fortnite on iOS, and with an option to play for free.
