Clash of Clans Netflix Series Confirmed: Everything We Know So Far

It’s finally happening. After years of requests by fans, Supercell has confirmed that a Netflix TV series based on the Clash of Clans universe is in the works. Here’s everything we know about it so far.

So far, Supercell has said that it’s partnering with the streaming service Netflix for the show.

“A new animated series has been greenlit and is currently in pre-production. That’s all for now. More details are coming later, but we just couldn’t keep it a secret any longer,” Supercell said in its tweet.

While the announcement didn’t explicitly state the name of the show, it highlighted CLASH in all caps, maybe suggesting that could be the name of the show. Take it with a grain of salt, though, as it’s still in pre-production, meaning the exact title could change later.

As the show is in pre-production, we can’t know for sure when it could come out. From here, the show will enter full production, then post, and then marketing before its eventual release. This could take over a year, or, if the plan is something like League of Legends’ Arcane, which took about six years, the wait might be longer.

However, with Supercell and Netflix both confirming that the show is on its way, the release timeline could be shorter.

Supercell’s announcement for a TV show doesn’t come as a big surprise. Firstly, Clash of Clans has become a legacy intellectual property that is widely recognized. The game alone has hundreds of millions of downloads since its 2012 launch and has clocked in over $7 billion in revenue, per Sensor Tower data.

Similarly, Clash Royale, another game in the same universe, has accumulated over $3 billion in revenue from player spending.

With the Clash universe’s long history and wide-scale penetration, it makes for the perfect Netflix show.

Additionally, Supercell isn’t the first developer to go this route. Angry Birds is another popular mobile game that adapted its game for the big screen. Other examples include Sonic, Arcane, Minecraft, Assassin’s Creed, and many more.

Not all of the adaptations of video games have been immensely successful. However, as in the case of Arcane, a good show can leave behind a legacy. And, if there’s one thing we know about Supercell, it’s that the company doesn’t compromise on quality, which can be seen through the long list of games it has killed.
