Arcane Season 2 Release Date
On April 7, 2023, former Riot Games CEO Nicolo Laurent publicly announced in an interview with BiliBili that Season 2 won’t be coming in 2023. This means that the sequel is likely coming next year. This is confirmed by the latest announcement by Netflix, which teased that the release date for Arcane season 2 will be in November 2024. To be precise, the first episode of Arcane Season 2 will be released on Saturday, November 9.
The official Season 2 poster was released on June 3, showing Jinx embracing Vi, reversing the roles seen in the first season’s poster.
A video teaser was released a few days after featuring Caitlyn and Vi who showcased her new gauntlets. On June 11, the season 2 trailer was released, showing the consequences of Jinx’s attack on the Council and the conflict between Jinx and Vi, the two ends of Piltover and Zaun.
Riot Games also confirmed that the second season of Arcane will also be the last and final season, bringing an end to the storyline.
“Arcane is just the beginning of our larger storytelling journey and partnership with the wonderful animation studio that is Fortiche,” said Christian Linke in the League Dev Update published on June 11, 2024.
Nonethless, it looks like more stories are going to be released: “From the very beginning, since we started working on this project, we had a very specific ending in mind, which means the story of Arcane wraps up with this second season. But Arcane is just the first of many stories that we want to tell in Runeterra,” he added.
Arcane Season 2 Cast: Who’s taking part?
It’s pretty obvious that the three main characters will have the same voiceover in the sequel unless something unexpected happens. These characters are also the only ones confirmed so far in Season 2:
- Ella Purnell as Jinx
- Hailee Steinfeld as Vi
- Katie Leung as Caitlyn
With the explosive Season 1 finale, there are a lot of question marks regarding who will be part of season 2. The characters and consequently, the voiceovers, will depend largely on which arcane council members survive the attack in Piltover. Arcane council members League of Legends are:
- Jayce Talis (interim head)
- Bolbok
- Cassandra Kiramman
- Hoskel
- Mel Medarda
- Salo
- Shoola
We know that Jayce should survive and we think that Mel and/or Cassandra could be the two casualties from the attack. They will be joining Silco, Vander, and Marcus among the victims in the series. Aside from them, though, there isn’t information regarding the other members.
It’s likely that Heimerdinger, Ekko, and Viktor should be present, with new faces introduced somewhere in season 2. One of them might be League of Legends’ champion Warwick, which was part of the last teaser. Currently, however, there is no news on who might voice the half-werewolf and half-machine character.
Arcane Season 2 Plot & Storyline
Season 1 of Arcane took place in both Piltover and Zaun. The two cities are mirror images of one another, with Piltover being the rich one and Zaun the undercity district. With the suspense left in the finale, Arcane season 2 will likely pick up where it left off. Having said that, the sequel might expand further into the world of Runeterra, with Noxus being one of the new regions involved, especially considering that there might have been a hint at Swain in the first season in the form of his ravens.
We previously mentioned that Warwick might be one of the future arcane League of Legends characters and, based on the trailer, he is directly linked with Singed. The mad chemist might become an important character in the upcoming season so keep an eye out for him…
Apart from the involvement of new characters, there’s also a lot to cover about the characters from the first season. Now that Jinx carried out a terrorist attack on the council, Jayce might decide to not keep his promise of giving Zaun its independence, especially if Mel, who is Jayce’s partner, dies. Similarly, if Cassandra doesn’t make it out alive as well, the daughter Caitlyn might want to avenge her and pursue Jinx.

Vi, in turn, will be the one to make a decision: will she help her sister or help Caitlyn for justice? This will be a key part of the plot.
Plot hints during Arcane AMA & Interviews
In the same Reddit AMA, Christian Linke mentioned “war” as a summary of season 2’s story. Given Jinx’s attack, we might witness a full blowout between Zaun and Piltover. According to Linke, he said we will also get more interactions between her and Ekko. Furthermore, we might also learn more about the rivalry between Jayce and Viktor and his transition into mechanical augmentations using Hextech.
Jayce’s voice actor Kevin Alejandro said in an interview with Buzzfeed that: Arcane season 2 will keep fans “on the edge of their seats” and that “you’re going to be conflicted in such a way that I don’t know if it’s good or bad. Like, your emotions will be pulled out of you and you’ll be like ‘Oh my god!’ That’s how you’re going to end [Season 2]. It’s so good!”
Given his admiration for the series and the fact that he thinks Arcane “is one of the coolest things” he’s ever been part of, we can be pretty sure that he’s going to put his all into transmitting those emotions.
Overall, Arcane is set to have a chaotic but thrilling sequel. With so much on the table still left to be uncovered, season 2 might deliver something that will surpass the first season. That said, fans will have to wait a little longer… but maybe not that much.
