Significant rumors have spread through the heart of the Roblox community. These speculations surround the closure of Roblox in 2025, indicating that Roblox might be dying. Roblox is a game platform developed by the Roblox Corporation and launched in 2006; this platform includes a creation system that allows users to design and play games. The platform utilizes the Lua programming language, allowing players to easily make a Roblox game, creating unique gaming environments through Roblox Studio. With Roblox having a massive community of users who can be seen as developers at this point, it has become a hub for a large amount of user-generated content. This allows millions of players to explore an extensive library of games.
Contrary to the circulating rumors that Roblox is shutting down in 2025, there seems to be no evidence supporting the claim that it’s a dying game. The platform has seen some positive financial and operational gains compared to what people think. Roblox has yet to see any downfall in its status, be it operational or financial; it’s still going strong worldwide as at the start of the year.
Roblox has continued to grow nonstop, with up to 200 million monthly users and more than 2 million developers actively adding to the platform. As of Q4 2024, Roblox have 380 million monthly active users, an increase from 300 million from 2023.
Data as of Q4 2024 shows that 39.1% (29.7 million) of Roblox daily active users were under 13 years old, while another 60% (40 million) were over 13 years old. The share of users over 13 years old accounts for more than half (56.98%) of the total user base in Q3 2024 vs. 44.48% in Q3 2020.
Roblox’s Founder and CEO (David Baszucki) recently shared a blog post emphasizing their vision for building an immersive platform for all age groups (and potentially adding experiences like virtual dating or movie screenings in the distant future).
Furthermore, the 17-24-year-old user base is the fastest-growing age demographic on the platform. This highlights the fact Roblox isn’t only for kids.
The general status is undeniably positive, with the platform constantly attracting new users and developers engaging a massive player base. With the potential to expand into regions like Asia, where English is not the primary language, Roblox anticipates attracting millions of new users. With this, we can boldly say that Roblox isn’t dead, nor is it showing any signs of dying.

As of July 27, 2023, Roblox expanded the platform by releasing a public beta for the Meta quest2 and the Meta Quest Pro, reaching over one million downloads within five days. Also, Roblox cross-platform feature became available, now available for crossplay on almost every platform, showing further growth and accessibility.
“Will Roblox ever die?” is the question players should be asking, and the answer is currently a huge NO. From everything covered, it’s clear that the platform is not only thriving positively on operations and finance. Roblox’s player and developer base is expanding when considering Roblox active players and updated features. These are enough facts to dispel any notion about its demise.
