100 Thieves Overcome Impossible Odds to Beat BLG at LoL Worlds 2025

Despite being considered a much worse team than FlyQuest domestically and having significant issues traveling to Worlds 2025, 100 Thieves beat BLG, one of the world’s strongest teams, on the very first day of competition.

According to 100T support Bill “Eyla” Nguyen, practice was going “horrible” ahead of game day, with jungler Kim “River” Dong-woo not even arriving in China until the day before they had to get on stage.

But there’s a magic in the air for the Thieves. It’s their last run before the team exits the LCS, with players and staff putting everything on the line to prove they deserve a spot in the league after 100T is gone.

And, considering they kicked off Worlds 2025 by beating BLG, they’re off to a good start.

100 Thieves’ Final Heist Off to Incredible Start

Considering that 100T ended Split 2 near the bottom of the standings, fans weren’t exactly optimistic about how the rest of their final year would go. But, after swapping out Rayan “Sniper” Shoura for Niship “Dhokla” Doshi in top lane, the team went from a steady sixth place to contesting first in a matter of weeks.

Despite other rosters having significantly more resources, considering they actually plan on staying in the LCS for 2026, 100T made magic happen domestically and managed to qualify for Worlds 2025.

However, they weren’t able to beat FlyQuest in the finals for Split 3, and they lost to Vivo Keyd Stars at the 2025 LTA Championship. Considering the stiff competition they’d have to face at Worlds and issues within the team ahead of their match, confidence wasn’t high from players or fans.

But, somehow, they’ve pulled it off.

Against BLG, one of the most aggressive teams in the LPL, they managed to slow the game pace to a crawl early on and only take fights when they wanted to. Dhokla thoroughly bested Chen “Bin” Zebin in the top lane, nullifying any pressure Bin’s Rek’Sai could have had while outscaling him and showing up big in fights on Sion.

Mid laner Lim “Quid” Hyeon-seung also put up an MVP performance, going 9/0/9 on Aurora. The relatively slow early game allowed him to get farmed up for when 100T actually wanted to start taking fights, and Quid delivered when it mattered.

100T’s tune has certainly changed after this win, with River claiming in a post-game interview that he believes the team can push to at least the quarterfinals.

It’s worth taking all this with a grain of salt, considering their win over BLG is a single best of 1, and that they still have a long tournament ahead of them. There’s a world where they win this match and then lose every other game they play and fall out of the tournament.

For now, though, 100 Thieves are putting on a show for fans to make sure the org has a reason to be remembered when they’re gone.
