Singed counters in LoL – the top three picks
Ever felt despair when playing against Singed? Well, I did. As a top lane player, I’ve always struggled against that champion. You can’t really fight him or the poison will take you down, and all you can do is farm up hoping that your jungler will come and gank you. That said, there are some champions out there that have great success against him: let’s find out the best Singed counters.
If you’re fairly new to the game, check out our guide on how counter picks work in League of Legends. You will understand why counter picks are important, and how you need to take advantage of them to increase your win rate. Make sure to also understand how classes counter one another in LoL so you always know what to pick in each game.
Kayle – the evergreen counter
While Kayle doesn’t want to fight Singed early on, you can be sure she will demolish him in the late game. Singed doesn’t have much early game damage on champions anyway, which means Kayle can easily scale up and hit her evolutions quite early in most games. Once she gets a few items, she will obliterate Singed whenever he’s in sight.

Urgot – the lane counter
Urgot is also a champion that wants to start fighting once he builds his first core items. Compared to Kayle, though, he has kill potential over Singed who can’t proxy farm in this matchup. Urgot will have more pushing power and if by any chance the two start fighting, Urgot should have enough damage to execute Singed with the ultimate.
Gangplank – skill-based matchup
You probably have realized at this point that most Singed counters are scaling champions. Gangplank is another one of those that meet the criteria: you get a safe, free lane to farm gold and stacks, and then you will be able to dish out absurd damage later into the game.
Worst Singed counters
Kled – the worst matchup
Kled is one of the few champions you would never want to play against Singed. The latter has a kit designed to counter all those champions that want to chase after other champions so Kled is naturally at a disadvantage. If you manage somehow to get out on even footing after the laning phase, kudos to you.
Yasuo – a bad choice
While Yasuo is not traditionally played as a top laner anymore, he’s also someone who you should never play against Singed. You can’t really fight with him since he will just mess with you by using the poison and you can’t do anything about it. Feeling powerless in this matchup is completely normal so avoid it at all costs.
How do you counter Singed with the items?
When going up against Singed, it’s recommended to stack a mix of both health and magic resistance. Below is a list of items to build you should consider, based on the class of champion you’re playing:
- Bruisers: Force of Nature, Spirit Visage
- AD assassins: Maw of Malmortius
- ADC champions: Wit’s End
- AP champions: Abyssal Mask, Banshee’s Veil
- Tanks: Force of Nature, Spirit Visage, Kaenic Rakoorn
What Champion counters Singed?
The three best counters are Singed, Camille, and Irelia. Other strong counters are Sett, Olaf, and Kayle.
Does Garen counter Singed?
The Garen-Singed matchup is skill-based but in most scenarios it should be just a handshake of waves. Singed can’t kill Garen but Garen can’t do much against Singed if he plays with the minion waves correctly. Once the laning phase is over, it will come down to how the two balance out the split pushing game and the teamfights with the rest of the team: whoever gets more influence will win.
