Warwick counters in LoL – the top three picks

Warwick has one of the easiest and most friendly kits in the game. He brings built-in sustain and good skirmishing potential, making him an ideal pick to learn how to play League of Legends. In this guide, we will be going over the best Warwick counters so you know how to properly deal with him on Summoner’s Rift.

Rammus – the evergreen counter

Rammus is by design the anti-attack champion. Thanks to his heavy armor and damage that is reflected upon receiving auto attacks, he’s the ideal Warwick counter. Focus on finding counter ganks by tracking him down and staying on top of him during the teamfights so he can’t jump on the backline.

Fiddlesticks – power farming

Fiddlesticks is a great power farmer who clears the jungle camps at a faster speed compared to Warwick. In any game, the AP jungler will be able to create a substantial gold lead by farming more. On top of that, you will be able to apply crowd controls on WW to shut him down, making his game a nightmare to play.

Master Yi – Alpha striking

Master Yi’s power against Warwick lies in his ability to dodge the enemy’s crowd controls with a well-timed Q. Moreover, he has a lot more DPS compared to the counterpart, meaning that he will always prevail in the duels. Just make sure you can hit those item spikes before engaging with the enemy.

Worst Warwick counters

Xin Zhao – a bad matchup

Unlike Master Yi, Xin Zhao doesn’t have the same level of damage output and Warwick will outsustain him during the fights. Xin Zhao’s jungle clear is also not that quick, meaning that Warwick will be able to exert better map presence thanks to his W.

Wukong – not what you should be playing

In one way or another, Wukong accomplishes similar things to Xin Zhao, and those characteristics also happen to be pretty weak against Warwick. It’s tough to win as Wukong unless you manage to snowball with repeated ganks on your lanes. If you can’t manage to do that, then this matchup is in Warwick’s hands.

How do you counter Warwick with the items?

When going up against Warwick, it’s recommended to build anti-heal to lower his sustain. Below is a list of items to build you should consider, based on the class of champion you’re playing:

ADC champions: Mortal Reminder
AP champions: Oblivion Orb
Tanks: Bramble Vest, Thornmail

What Champion counters Warwick?

The three best counters are Rammus, Fiddlesticks, and Master Yi. Other strong counters are Briar, Vi, and Evelynn.

Does Lee Sin counter Warwick?

Lee Sin is not considered a Warwick counter. The Blind Monk will rarely win the 1v1 skirmishes given Warwick’s sustain. That said, Lee Sin has better early game presence as a jungler: by playing around the right lanes, he can still get out ahead of the enemy.
