Twitch counters in LoL – the top three picks

Even though he’s not the most popular ADC in the game, you always have to worry about facing a Twitch player, especially if paired with enchanter supports like Yuumi. The rat can single-handedly carry the game, making it impossible for your team to deal with him. Luckily for you, we will be covering in this guide the best three Twitch counters, so you know what to play against him.

Kog’Maw – the best counter

Just like Twitch, Kog’Maw is a late-game scaling champion. His DPS will be even higher than Twitch’s later in the game, making him the stronger pick. As long as you don’t get one-shotted at the start of a fight when he tries to ambush you, you will prevail in most teamfights.

Kai’Sa – the alternative

If you prefer more aggressive options, then Kai’Sa is probably the right one for you. As long as she is paired with a hook champion, you can force short trades during the laning phase and one-shot later in the game. That said, it can be a risky strategy, especially if you’re not able to snowball in the mid game: be aware of that.

Draven – the lane bully

Despite not being at the top of the ADC tier list anymore, Draven is one of those evergreen Twitch counters. Thanks to the strong early game damage output, he will bully out the enemy ADC. As long as you can start snowballing and cash out Draven’s bounty, you should be on your way to an easy win.

Worst Twitch counters

Smolder – the worst matchup

Given that both champions scale and are quite weak early on, the matchup is usually even during the laning phase. Smolder is dependent on how many stacks he can get as quickly as possible, while Twitch is more dependent on the items. That being said, Twitch’s damage output is much more burst-based, allowing him to likely kill Smolder before he starts dishing out proper damage.

Aphelios – a bad choice

The main issue in this matchup is that both champions scale later in the game but Twitch will have a much higher range with the ultimate, making it impossible for Aphelios to be relevant in the decisive moments.

How do you counter Twitch with the items?

If you don’t want to waste time on LoL and lose again and again, you’ll need to think about items too. When going up against Twitch, it’s recommended to stack a mix of armor and health. Below is a list of items to build you should consider, based on the class of champion you’re playing:

Bruisers: Sterak’s Gage, Guardian Angel, Death Dance
AD assassins: Edge of Night, Guardian Angel
ADC champions: Guardian Angel
AP champions: Zhonya’s Hourglass
Tanks: Randuin’s Omen, Thornmail, Frozen Heart

What Champion counters Twitch?

The three best counters are Kog’Maw, Kai’Sa, and Draven. Other strong counters include Samira, Tristana, and Nilah.

Does Ezreal counter Twitch?

While Ezreal can be a great way to bully Twitch in the early game thanks to the higher range, Twitch will catch up eventually later in the game.
