Busio Leaves FlyQuest to Join Karmine Corp in LEC

For years, North America has been notorious for poaching some of the best talent from Europe and bringing them onto U.S. soil. Now the tables have turned, with European teams eyeing some of NA’s best, and Alan ‘Busio’ Cwalina is set to be the next player to go to Europe.

While his departure from FlyQuest is based on a report from Sheep Esports, FlyQuest employees have posted in response to the news and vented their frustration at losing one of their best players.

It’d be one thing if he was going to another NA team, but Sheep’s report claims that he’s leaving North America and going to Karmine Corp in the LEC. With NA players like Johnny ‘Yukino’ Dang and Joseph ‘Jojopyun’ Pyun having great success in Europe, it’s a worrying trend for NA talent.

What’s more, due to a loophole in residency because of Busio’s dual citizenship in Poland, he wouldn’t even take up an import slot in the event he goes to Europe.

It’s very rare for support players to be the ones who shine on their team. Support is often viewed as the least important role on the team, one that doesn’t require quite as much mechanical skill as other roles.

However, there are a select few support players who define their team, and Busio is among them. He swapped to support from mid lane a few years ago, and took all the mechanical skill with him into bot lane.

Feared and respected as one of the best support players in the world, he shines as a player who often receives target bans for game-winning supports like Bard that he ends up having hard carry performances on. Even though FlyQuest’s year ended in disappointment, they were still far and away the best team in NA.

But now he’s gone, likely to duo up with superstar French ADC Caliste ‘Caliste’ Hennebert, who has been touted as the future of European League of Legends.

With so many strong North American players having futures unknown at this point, considering how volatile the off-season has been, it remains to be seen if any other hot prospects end up being picked up by European teams.

100 Thieves‘ entire roster was put into free agency as they drop out of League of Legends entirely, and, though Lim ‘Quid’ Hyeon-seung has already been picked up by Team Liquid, Niship ‘Dhokla’ Doshi, Victor ’FBI’ Huang, and Bill ‘Eyla’ Nguyen are still on the market. Sentinels also have no confirmed players at this point and are likely looking to spend big on securing a strong opening roster.

Busio’s supposed move to Europe is an unexpected one, and it’s likely to only be the start of an incredibly chaotic off-season.
