LoL players believe THIS champion is the safest top pick
There are countless picks available for top lane players in League of Legends, from bruisers to ranged champions that can poke you from a galaxy away, to your generic tanks that are just there to have a nice quiet time. Whatever your playstyle is in League of Legends in the top lane, there is a pick for you.
League of Legends players have taken to Reddit today to debate which champion is the safest bet for top lane, ideally being hard to kill, but easy to pilot themselves. It seems like there is one champion in particular that is getting far more votes from the player base than others.
Garen is the safest top pick in LoL
Of all the champions mentioned in the Reddit thread, no champion featured more than Garen, making him one of the safest top pick in LoL. Garen was on our tier list of best top laners for the latest patch. Garen is certainly one of the recommended champions to pick up if you’re looking to be more of a carry for your team. Despite having good scaling, the main objective for Garen is to fight your opponent to the death. One player said, “Garen, easiest champ in the game basically plays itself.”
When you think about it, they aren’t wrong, because even if you take a bad trade, Garen’s passive will allow him to gradually heal up, making it a nightmare for the enemy top laner who will now be on low health compared to Garen. Another player said, “Garen, you have amazing waveclear from e, good disengage with w and q, amazing lane sustain with passive. Against champs that can’t stop you, just shove the wave in their face and make them collect it under the tower while you heal.”

He’s hard to play against
Garen is certainly one of the more annoying champions to play, especially when top laners are not running teleport, but ignite. This just provides too much lane pressure, because if you take a bad trade and he has ultimate up, he is going to use ignite and R on you, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Playing against Garen does provide you with many lessons in League of Legends. How to manage the wave, how to manage trading against him, how to itemize against him, etc. So, in some ways, allowing the enemy team to pick up Garen is a good thing. One player said, “His kit is simple, damn near unkillable if you play defensive, and FORCES you to learn the actual important information that will let you climb.”
Do you think Garen is the safest top lane pick in League of Legends?
