Start and End Dates for All League of Legends Seasons

Ever since its launch in 2009, League of Legends has been one of the most played esports titles by the gaming community. Despite the game being out for 15 years, Riot Games continues to bring refreshing updates and new concepts to make the game feel exciting every time a player boots the client.

Each League of Legends season typically runs similarly to the solar year, with the season beginning in January and ending around November and December. During the winter holidays, Riot usually takes that period to test out new things and make bigger adjustments ahead of the new season, before players start to test their worth on the ranked ladder again.

Here are all the start and end dates of all LoL seasons up until now:

Season 1: July 13, 2010 – August 23, 2011
Season 2: November 29, 2011 – November 12, 2012
Season 3: February 1, 2013 – November 11, 2013
Season 4: January 10, 2014 – November 11, 2014
Season 5: January 21, 2015 – November 11, 2015
Season 6: January 20, 2016 – November 8, 2016
Season 7: January 24, 2017 – November 7, 2017
Season 8: January 16, 2018 – November 12, 2018
Season 9: January 23, 2019 – November 19, 2019
Season 10: January 10, 2020 – November 10, 2020
Season 11: January 8, 2021 – November 15, 2021
Season 12: January 7, 2022 – November 14, 2022
Season 13: January 10, 2023 – November 20, 2023

A new approach by Riot

Unlike previous years, this is the first time that Riot decided to have no breaks between the start and end of a ranked season. This means that season 15 will officially kick off when season 14 ends on January 8, giving players more time to grind and climb the ranked ladder. Whether you’re looking to climb to your peak rank or looking to earn your end-of-season rewards, keep in mind the date.
