T1 Crush KT to Win LoL Worlds 2025 Title as Faker Builds Unbeatable Legacy

T1 has done it again. Despite a somewhat rough showing in the Swiss Stage and doubts being cast on the team due to a generally lackluster year, they’ve won Worlds 2025. And, as if Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok didn’t have a big enough trophy cabinet as it is, he’s now earned his sixth title.

At this point, no matter what happens during the season, a T1 win is expected if they make it to Worlds on any given year. That four-man core of Mun “Oner” Hyeon-jun, Faker, Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, and Ryu “Keria” Min-seok is unshakeable. And, most importantly for this roster, Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon managed to fill the shoes of Choi “Zeus” Woo-je when it mattered.

We’re at the point where T1 is winning so much that some fans believe the narrative is getting old. While T1 has many fans, there are also those rooting against the team purely to give another team a chance at glory.

And, though KT came pretty close to finally rewriting history and taking a win in the relatively one-sided rivalry between these two teams in the Telecom War, T1 unsurprisingly took the title.

Faker Wins 6th Worlds Title

It’s been 12 years since Faker first lifted the Worlds trophy in 2013. Back then, it would have been hard to imagine how good he’d end up being. He lifted his third trophy in 2016, making Faker an undeniable household name and a permanent part of LoL’s legacy.

However, he just couldn’t win again after that. Time and time again, he fell short. 2022 was the most heartbreaking loss of them all, with T1 being just one game from winning but ultimately failing to overcome DRX.

Now it’s been 3 years of absolute dominance on the world stage. No matter how poorly their year goes, no matter if they barely qualify for Worlds at all, no matter if Faker ends up injuring his wrist and having to sit out for weeks as he recovers, they still just win.

It’s at the point now where it’s very likely no player will ever be able to match Faker’s legacy, even if he were to retire today, something we know won’t happen considering T1 just extended his contract to 2029.

It’s a level of competitive dominance that goes unmatched in pretty much any esport, with very few players in any competitive game being able to boast so many titles.

It remains to be seen if T1 manages to hold on to their full roster going into the 2026 competitive season, or if they’ll have a situation like last year with Zeus where off-season negotiations didn’t go their way.

However, Worlds wasn’t all positive for T1. Their team is taking legal action against fans who snuck into private rooms to try and get pictures of the players without their consent while at a hotel in China.
