MOONTON, the developer of the popular MOBA title Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), tied up with Cambodia’s Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MOEYS) for the ASEAN Paralympic Games 2023.
The ASEAN Para Games are a biennial multi-sport for athletes with disability. The 2023 edition took place in Cambodia from June 3 to 9. This time, however, there was a different game joining the usual lineup of sports at the event and it was Mobile Legends.
The ASEAN Paralympic Games for MLBB took place on June 4 and 5. Four countries participated for the gold medal, namely the Philippines, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Thailand. MOONTON’s effort to bring tournaments for disabled gamers is commendable. The developer also released a video on Instagram highlighting the story of Cambodia’s Jungler, Chouk Phearak.+
The player competes in MLBB with just his left arm, after losing the other to a car accident. Phearak uses his little finger and index finger to play the MOBA title. The little finger controls the joystick while he uses the attack and abilities with his index finger.
Phearak narrated how an incident with an ice crusher machine when he was young caused him to lose mobility in his right arm. Later on, he was involved in a car accident where medical negligence made him lose his arm. He says that he found solace through gaming. His skill have now enabled him to represent the country at the Para ASEAN Games 2023.
Unfortunately, Phearak and Cambodia fell in the semifinals of the Playoffs. However, they took down Thailand 2-0 to secure the bronze medal.
It was the Philippines who were the best team in the competition. The team started off the group stage with a comfortable 3-0 finish, and completed it off in the Playoffs by taking down Thailand and Malaysia in back-to-back games. The roster will now head home with gold medals.
Besides the Para ASEAN Games 2023, MOONTON is bringing many initiatives for disabled people. On May 27, 2023, MOONTON and the MOEYS organized8 a workshop with the title ‘esports as a career for all’. It saw more than 100 students attending to learn how to get a job in the esports industry.

Additionally, the athletes from the Para ASEAN Games 2023 also attended the MSC Gala 2023 on June 8. The MLBB MSC 2023 is currently happening from June 10 to 18. For the first time, the top 12 teams from around the world are competing.
