MLBB MSC Group B: See You Soon creates the biggest upset of the tournament

The competition has been fierce in the MLBB MSC 2024 Group Stage. Teams are performing to the best of their abilities to win and qualify for the next tournament round. Group B in the MLBB MSC showed the same competitive spirit.

The Esports World Cup’s MLBB MSC 2024 has become a talking point in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) community. Being held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the tournament boasts a $3 million prize pool and has the top teams around the world competing in it.

What happened in the MLBB MSC 2024 Group B?

Group B was considered to be the hardest group to play in by the MLBB community. It had last year’s defending MSC champions Fnatic ONIC, along with the MPL regional winners from other countries.

Many fans expected Fnatic ONIC to be the first team to secure their spot in the Playoffs today. However, the Indonesian giants suffered unexpected losses and had their run halt in the Group Stage.

It was the Cambodian team See You Soon that registered the biggest upset of the tournament as they cleanly swept Fnatic ONIC by 2-0. The team’s jungler MP the King produced back-to-back MVP performances and helped his team stay in contention for the Playoffs.

After this loss, Fnatic ONIC was still not out of the tournament. Unfortunately, they went on to drop a game against Malaysia’s Selangor Red Giants in the final series of the day. This loss propelled Selangor Red Giants and See You Soon to clinch the top two spots in Group B and make it to the next round.

This is certainly the most shocking exit of the MLBB MSC 2024 as the Indonesian champions, who came second during the M5, have been knocked out of the tournament. It’s also a significant setback in Fnatic’s hopes for the Esports World Cup Club Championship.

Group B Rankings

The rankings of Group B in the MLBB MSC are as follows:

  1. Selangor Red Giants: 2-1-0
  2. See You Soon: 2-0-1
  3. Fnatic ONIC: 1-1-1
  4. Team Falcon: 0-0-3

Apart from the top two teams from Group B, NIP Flash and Fire Flux Esports from Group A, along with Liquid Echo and HomeBois from Group C have also advanced to the Playoffs Stage.

Group D will finish its remaining matches tomorrow, July 7, to determine the final two teams that move to the next round.
