The victory is a prestigious one as the MLBB MSC became a truly global competition in 2024 only. Earlier, it was called the MLBB SEA Cup, but MOONTON rebranded it along with its inclusion at the Esports World Cup 2024. Here’s how the Grand Finals went down in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Selangor Red Giants shock Falcons AP.Bren in the MLBB MSC 2024 Grand Finals

Coming into the Grand Finals, Falcons AP.Bren, the reigning world champions, were the favorites to take it home. The team was having a flawless run through the tournament, having gone 3-0 in the group stage and two one-sided back-to-back victories in the Playoffs.

However, Selangor had been showing throughout the tournament why they were a force to be reckoned with. Their first sign of being a team to look out for came against one of the favorites of the entire competition, Fnatic Onic in the group stage. The team managed to draw the Indonesian giants, therefore, knocking them out of the tournament.

It’s no doubt that Selangor were the underdogs in the MLBB MSC 2024 Grand Finals. The Philippines has always been the strongest region in MLBB esports, and Falcons AP.Bren were showing no signs of slowing down. Furthermore, the team started off strong, winning the first game.

However, since then, it was a constant see-saw of matches that saw the series go through a decider seventh game. Here, Selangor were able to complete their dream run and take the series 4-3.

“We made sure to stay composed,” said Michael “Arcadia” Bocado, the head coach for Selangor. “The best-of-seven series tested our mental fortitude, so we had to ensure we were in the zone and focused laser-sharp to execute our plans game by game seamlessly.”

Despite the disappointing second-place finish, Falcons Esports has sealed a comfortable lead in the Esports World Cup Club Championship. With 2,600 points, including victories in Warzone and Free Fire, the $20 million Club Championship seems to be within their grasp.

For Falcons AP.Bren, they will be looking to reclaim their title at the M6 World Championship which is taking place in Malaysia.
