Overwatch Season 3 brings Shion, Neon Junction, and new skins

Overwatch is officially kicking off Season 3, and Blizzard is trading its usual sci-fi heroics for a gritty, neon-drenched underworld trip. Titled Reign of Talon Season 3: Into the Tiger’s Den, the new update drops players straight into a Tokyo turf war controlled by the criminal underground.
Between a brand-new hero who treats motor vehicles like throwing knives and a massive overhaul to the cosmetics system, there is a lot to unpack. Grab an energy drink, because the streets of Tokyo are getting messy.
Meet Shion, the Motorcycle-Throwing Kingpin
The biggest addition to the roster is Shion, a new Damage hero who serves as the terrifying Omnic head of the Hashimoto Clan. Shion’s backstory is your classic “underdog robot turned ruthless mafia boss.” After being locked up and used as a training dummy, she broke free and took over the streets with an absolute taste for luxury and chaos.
Her gameplay kit is built entirely around aggressive mobility and heavy disrespect for her enemies. She wields dual pistols with a unique three-round firing burst to shred targets, combined with quick dashes to zip through crossfire.
The absolute highlight of her kit is her motorcycle. Shion doesn’t just ride it to get across the map; she can literally launch the entire bike straight into the enemy team like a two-wheeled missile.
A Long-Awaited Trip to Neon Junction

Fans have been begging Blizzard for a fresh Hybrid map, and they finally delivered with Neon Junction. Set deep in the nightlife districts of Tokyo, the map starts as a classic zone capture under glowing storefronts and transitions into a payload escort.
Blizzard filled the map with visual jokes and Easter eggs, including arcade zones like Hobby World and Capsule Hunt Go! If you look closely at the payload itself, you will notice it is actually Andromeda III, a giant robot from an in-universe anime series piloted by a character named Pia.
To celebrate the launch, players can jump into Anima Strike from June 16 to July 6. It is a three-week narrative event where you clear daily and weekly challenges to unlock branching lore paths and scan over 50 themed rewards.
Creators Take Over the Balance Patch
If you have ever blamed developers for ruining your favorite character, you now have a chance to blame your favorite streamers instead. From June 30 to July 13, a special “Community Crafted” mode hits the arcade, letting four major Overwatch personalities experiment with the roster.
Guxue turns Reinhardt into an even heavier, hammer-swinging brawler, while mL7support moves Baptiste’s Immortality Field into his ultimate slot. Apply gives Ashe’s robot companion B.O.B. a massive buff, and Ocie tweaks Sombra to bring back her classic, disruptive flanker identity. It is basically a giant, two-week playable experiment.
Phoenixes, Rebels, and the New Ultra Skins
The monetization team has been busy, because the cosmetics department is getting a massive tiered upgrade. On the Mythic side, Illari is getting an Ascendant Phoenix skin that grows actual flaming wings as you level it up. Hanzo is also grabbing a Tokyo Rebel weapon skin that spawns holographic dragons every time you land a final blow.
Blizzard is also introducing a brand-new tier called Ultra Skins, starting with Nyan Café Kiriko and Nyan Café Sierra. These go a step beyond normal skins by overhauling the entire audio and visual experience, adding custom ambient animations, unique sound effects, and specialized kill alerts built around a cat café theme.
To round things out, the developers threw in an “Excavation Initiative” event that hands out 17 free loot boxes just for playing the game, completely removed grouping restrictions for ranked queues, and redesigned the hero selection screen to make it much cleaner. Season 3 is live right now, so update your client and go start throwing bikes at people.
