How to get Glaceon in Pokémon GO – Get Your Glaceon Today

As it’s in trainer’s best interests to fill up the Pokédex, it’s vital to know how to get Glaceon in Pokémon GO. The Ice-type Eevee evolution is not only a good Pokémon, but it’s an extremely popular one. Being one of eight different evolutions for one fan favorite ‘mon makes one pretty popular on its own. All Eeveelutions, as they are affectionately called, have different evolution methods.

The original three, Jolteon, Espeon and Flareon, are random evolutions in Pokémon GO. Sylveon requires a ton of hearts as a buddy and trainers must walk with Espeon and Umbreon for 10 km. What do they need to do to get Glaceon?

How to get Glaceon in Pokémon GO?

Unlike many Eeveelutions, Glaceon does not require trainers to set an Eevee as their buddy. Instead, this evolution is more straightforward- but it does have one catch. In order to evolve to it, players need to be within range of a Pokéstop that has a Glacial Lure Module on it. If you happen to pass by a stop that someone else has lured up with the Glacial Module, then you’re lucky.

If not, you will need to do it yourself. Glacial Lure Modules have been rewards in the past, so there’s a chance you already have one in your inventory. Check there first so you can use that and not have to buy one. If you don’t have one, head over to the Shop.

There, you will find all lures. Each specialized lure is priced at 180 coins compared to the standard lure at 100. This includes Glacial, so hopefully, you have enough coins. If not, check out this Pokemon GO coins guide to getting more. They are also occasionally available as rewards for challenges, so be sure to keep an eye out for that as well.

Purchase it whenever possible and head to the nearest Pokéstop. Use the lure on it by selecting the stop and clicking the plus on top of it. Choose the Glacial Lure Module. From there, return to the Eevee you want to evolve. It may be worthwhile to check the IVs so you have a good one. If you want to get a shiny Glaceon, you will need to consider that as well.

If you have a shiny Eevee, which many trainers do thanks to a recent Spotlight Hour and a 2021 Community Day, you need to decide which Eeveelution to make it into. Here’s what shiny Glaceon looks like:

If you choose to make it shiny, proceed with evolving it within range of the lure module. If you don’t, then pick out a normal Eevee and evolve it from there. It costs 25 Eevee candies to do so.

Every so often, the Eeveelutions come around in raids. Right now, both Umbreon and Espeon are available. In the future, Glaceon might well be available in three-star raids, whether as the event one above or a normal one. Keep an eye on the raid schedule to see if and when Glaceon is available and you can catch one that way.

Is Glaceon good in Pokémon GO? All Eveelutions are pretty solid Pokémon. Its stats are decent, though the IVs play a big role in that. The only downside to it and all other EEveelutions is that it is a single type. It’s just Ice-type, which is not as useful as an Ice/Flying-type, for example. However, it is one of the cutest Pokémon in Pokémon GO, so that alone makes it worth it.

Name trick for Glaceon in Pokémon GO

The first time you evolve to a certain Eevee evolution, you can use the name trick. Every single evolution has a name that starts the evolution. For Glaceon, this is Rea. Name your Eevee that and it should allow you to evolve without having to go through any of the above struggles.

The rest of the Eeveelution names are:

  • PyroFlareon
  • RainerVaporeon
  • SparkyJolteon
  • KiraSylveon
  • TamaoUmbreon
  • LinneaLeafeon
  • EspeonSakura

Unfortunately, this only works once. After it has been used, the names will do nothing and you will have to do the above guide. If you already have an Espeon, chances are the name trick has been used. To check, try naming the Eevee and if the evolution silhouette changes from a question mark to something, then that name is valid. If it stays a question mark, then you can’t use the name.
