Beloved PUBG Mobile Star ‘Paraboy’ Joins JD Esports in $759,000 Deal
Zhu ‘paraboy’ Bocheng is one of the most recognisable rockstar competitors in the PUBG Mobile space. He has been playing at the top of his game since 2019 and has racked up a whopping $1.3 million in his time as a pro player, lifting the trophy at the PUBG Mobile Global Championship twice. With two rings and 10 chips to his name, plus a win at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, paraboy is without a doubt one of the winningest players in PUBG history.
Recently, it was announced that paraboy would be leaving Nova Esports after four years. He won one of his world championship titles while flying Nova’s banner, but it’s time to move on to a new organisation entirely. Going forward, he’s set to represent JD Esports, and the deal that was signed to move him over came with a transfer fee worth a whopping $759,000.
Big Bucks, Better Results
JD Esports is another Chinese organisation with around four years in the PUBG Mobile scene. One key thing to point out is that the organisation hasn’t ever won a trophy in the PUBG Mobile space, so the hope is that paraboy can bring his star quality into the team and turn around the squad’s fortunes. Until now, the organisation has won just $354,400 in PUBG Mobile prize money, while Nova Esports – paraboy’s former organisation – has secured a staggering $6.5 million in prize money.
Admittedly, paraboy has slowed down somewhat in recent years, but he’s still a top-tier competitor with plenty to offer, and JD Esports recognises and appreciates that fact. On YouTube, paraboy has picked up a following of more than 485,000 subscribers, and he regularly uploads long-form gameplay videos and some tip-base videos showcasing the best PUBG Mobile settings for aspiring pro players.
Between November 1 and December 1 this year, the PUBG Mobile Global Championship will unravel in the United Kingdom. There’s a $3 million prize pool on the line, but before that, the PUBG Mobile World Cup will take place at the Esports World Cup in Riyadh – also with a $3 million prize pool. This year, there are intense opportunities for PUBG players to earn big money, but how much of it will paraboy scoop up? JD hasn’t got a spot at the Esports World Cup, but the PUBG Mobile Global Championship is still wide open.
