Best Rainbow Six Siege Operators | R6S Operator List in 2024
Rainbow Six Siege has a dense roster of Operators that form the foundation of the game itself. Without the Operators, there is no Rainbow Six Siege – it’s that simple. They’re the lifeblood of the game, and over time, Ubisoft keeps releasing more of them – and altering the ones that exist. Like with any competitive title, there are balances, buffs, and nerfs applied to even the best Rainbow Six Siege Operators, which means you’ll need to be fluid enough as a player to keep up with those changes.
In this guide, we’re breaking down the best Rainbow Six Siege Operators as of 2024. There’s a massive list of characters to choose from in Rainbow Six Siege, which can make it rather intimidating for new players, but fear not – we’re here to help. If you’re wondering who the best Attackers are in Rainbow Six Siege or which Defenders are worth unlocking, read on. This is a one-stop shop for all things Operator-related in Rainbow Six Siege.
How Does An Operator Become The Best?
Becoming the best Rainbow Six Siege Operator isn’t a difficult thing. It almost always comes down to the character’s utility and abilities. Some Operators are deemed entirely useless and rarely used, but others will be seen dominating the game time after time. For instance, we can take Thatcher and his EMP grenades, which knock out all electronic devices in a certain radius. That utility is enough to rank Thatcher as one of the top Attackers in Rainbow Six Siege, even if players aren’t in love with other aspects of the Operator.
Some Operators aren’t worth the time and effort it takes to unlock them, though. For example, Warden may look awesome on the surface, but his ability comes in the form of a set of smart glasses that reduce the impact of non-lethal grenades. It’s an almost useless ability because they need to be activated in the second or so you’ll have between a grenade being thrown and it impacting you as a player.
Ultimately, it’s all about striking the balance. Some weapons in Rainbow Six Siege can turn around an Operator, and the Health and Agility levels of Operators also come into play. Out of all Rainbow Six Siege Operators, there are a few special individuals that remain at the top of the table with each passing update – and we’ve outlined them below.

We must break down the entire list of Rainbow Six Siege Operators before we push on, to give you an idea of the scope of the roster. There are plenty of Operators to choose from, and they’re split up between two ‘sides’: Attackers and Defenders. That means that, depending on which side you’re playing, some Operators will be inaccessible until you’ve switched sides. As of 2024, there are seventy Operators in Rainbow Six Siege, and Ubisoft intends to push that number to one hundred before the game dies out.
Here’s a snapshot breakdown of all the Operators in Rainbow Six Siege:
Attackers:
- Brava, Grim, Sens, Osa, Flores, Zero, Ace, Iana, Kali, Amaru, Nokk, Gridlock, Nomad, Maverick, Lion, Finka, Dokkaebi, Zofia, Ying, Jackal, Hibana, Capitao, Blackbeard, Buck, Sledge, Thatcher, Ash, Thermite, Montagne, Twitch, Blitz, IQ, Fuze, Ram and Glaz.
Defenders:
- Fenrir, Solis, Azami, Thorn, Thunderbird, Aruni, Melusi, Oryx, Wamai, Goyo, Warden, Mozzie, Kaid, Clash, Maestro, Alibi, Vigil, Ela, Lesion, Mira, Echo, Caveira, Valkyrie, Frost, Mute, Smoke, Castle, Pulse, Doc, Rook, Jager, Bandit, Tachanka, Kapkan, and Tubarão.
For the most part, given their role in the game, the Defenders ‘look cooler’ than the Attackers – but aesthetic doesn’t go any way towards defining someone as one of the best Rainbow Six Siege Operators.

Best Rainbow Six Siege Operators – Defenders

In our guide to the best Defender in Rainbow Six Siege, we listed the following Operators.
Mira
Introduced in Operation Velvet Shell, Mira emerged as a unique operator with high-tier health and a fantastically overpowered utility. She can deploy one-way mirrors, which means that Defenders can take a look through walls that Attackers cannot see through, instantly giving Mira’s teammates the upper hand in absolutely any engagement. She makes use of a top-tier shotgun and a rapid-fire SMG to dispatch her opponents with, but it is that Black Mirror that makes her such a valuable pick.
Tubarao
Tubarao is the newest Operator in Rainbow Six Siege as of February 2024. He’s a solid Defender with a cracking ability – the Zoro Canister. With this, he can freeze surfaces and prevent breaches from busting through them. He also wields some of the best weapons in the game, including the MPX and the AR-15.50, which boasts immense stopping power. With the addition of a C4 Charge or Proximity Alarms, Tubarao does become one of the best Defenders in Rainbow Six Siege.
Buck
Buck is seen by many as being the best Operator in Rainbow Six Siege, bar none. He’s a solid Attacker with a brilliant loadout that includes a GONNE-6 and hard breaching charges, which means there’s very little that can reliably stand in his way. He uses a ‘Skeleton Key’ shotgun that can breach almost any surface and as his primary weapon boasts such a high rate of fire, it’s almost impossible to beat him in a close-range gunfight.
Jager
Jager is a German Operator with a hugely advantageous utility – a set of active defence systems that can intercept almost any projectile. He can also block the sight of Attackers and has a bulletproof camera to boot. Plus, his weapons are some of the best guns in Rainbow Six Siege, truly marking him as a powerhouse Operator with a high pick rate. He has seen some debuffs over the years, but that hasn’t slowed him down as one of the best Rainbow Six Siege Operators.

Best Rainbow Six Siege Operators – Attackers

Similarly, here are the Operators that we picked for our list of the best Attackers in Rainbow Six Siege.
Thatcher
Thatcher is a hugely capable Operator who only becomes all that much more impressive in the hands of a talented player. He’s a seasoned veteran, merging into the fray from the British SAS, and he’s instantly recognisable, given that he’s been in the game since the day it was released. He uses EMP grenades that are so overpowered that he’s often banned as a pick in Rainbow Six esports tournaments.
Sledge
Like Thatcher, Sledge is available from the start, he’s an ‘OG’ Rainbow Six Siege Operator, and he’s from the SAS. He’s certainly a contender for the title of one of the best Rainbow Six Siege Operators – and for good reason. He totes a massive, near-unstoppable breaching hammer that can devastate defences, and he uses weapons that are equal parts stable and powerful. He’s not usually a banned Operator, but like Thatcher, he’s massively beneficial to an Attacking side.
Nomad
Nomad is one of the most popular Operators in Rainbow Six Siege because of her unique ‘repulsion’ grenades. She’s what’s known as an anti-roamer, which means she can prevent Defenders from traversing the map and getting behind an attacking force with ease. She totes solid weapons with a high power output – an AK-74M or an ARX200 – which means she’s also capable of laying down intense cover power and picking off Defenders at mid- to long-range.
Iana
Many would have you convinced that Iana is the best Operator in Rainbow Six Siege. She boasts one of the most unique and helpful utilities in the game – a ‘Gemini Replicator’ that allows her to roam the map as a remotely-controlled hologram. It can act as a decoy, a recon device, or a disruptive mechanic, and given its range of freedom, it’s one of the most powerful abilities for roamers. Her weapons are also some of the most powerful guns in the game, making her a solid, strong pick every time.

But If We’re Being Honest…
If we’re going to be truthful, we’ll state that the best Rainbow Six Siege Operators are the ones that you prefer to use the most. There are no rules or laws when it comes to playing Rainbow Six Siege, and if you find that one of the worst-rated Operators is the one that you get the most kills with or secure the most wins with, then so be it. There may be some that challenge your pick or suggest you’re making a mistake, but humble the loudmouths with your in-game abilities and everything will be okay.
This is a game that’s tailored to every playstyle, so whether you’re a marksman, a stealthy player, a tech-focused operative, or a guns-blazing kind of gamer, you’ll feel at home with at least one Operator. And if there aren’t any that you gel with now, then hold fire – there are plenty more coming to the Rainbow Six Siege ecosystem over time.
Best of luck out there.
