Rainbow Six Shock as Beastcoast Eliminates FaZe From BLAST Major
Following a stellar run at the BLAST R6 Major in Manchester, FaZe Clan has been unexpectedly forced out of the running by beastcoast. This shock result came in the form of a sweep, with beastcoast landing an almost unchallenged 2 – 0 win over the all-Brazilian side of FaZe. With a scoreline of 7 – 4 in the opening round on Labs followed up with a decimation on Kafe that yielded a 7 – 1 victory, beastcoast breezed almost effortlessly into the semi-finals.
In the second phase of the BLAST R6 Major, FaZe Clan faltered against Team Secret but remained resilient against Liquid, beastcoast (only just) and PSG. In February, FaZe narrowly missed securing the trophy at the Six Invitational, losing against w7m in the grand final. Coincidentally, the w7m roster – which was picked up by FURIA – was also booted from the BLAST R6 Major earlier today.
Fan Favourites Fall Short
It was a hard fall for FaZe at the BLAST R6 Major, and the loss came mere months after the team narrowly missed out on the top spot at the Six Invitational in Sao Paolo. During the quarter-final clash at the BLAST R6 Major, beastcoast’s North American roster proved to be too much for FaZe to bear. On the first map, FaZe Clan was quickly overwhelmed as beastcoast slayed out in almost every round. Gunnar, beastcoast’s MVP, managed to secure a KD of 12-6 as the action unfolded, punishing FaZe Clan up to R11.
Kafe told a similar story – Gunnar managed to secure a whopping KD of 16-2 on the second map of the series, almost emerging as a one-man band destined to lay a stranglehold on FaZe Clan. In the Rainbow Six esports space, beastcoast is yet to secure a major prize and is untested on a stage of this magnitude – and now the team will have to contend with the might of Team Liquid in the semi-finals.
It has been a stunning tournament so far and the crowd backing the event in Manchester is electric. This is the first BLAST R6 Major to ever land in the United Kingdom and the BEC Arena is alive with the thrumming energy of Siege fans. Team Secret, FURIA, and FaZe Clan have been sent home, and within a short time, we’ll know which team out of M80 and DarkZero is going the same way.
There’s a UK-based buff for DarkZero in the form of nafe, let’s see if it pays off.
