Six Invitational Champs Qualify For BLAST Manchester Major
FURIA Esports just narrowly qualified to enter the BLAST R6 Manchester Major, due to be held next month in the United Kingdom. The team, which is made up of the w7m Esports roster that won a record-breaking Six Invitational in February, wound up snatching the final qualification spot in the Brazil League. The squad beat w7m Esports’ new roster to the punch, pushing the team down into the LCQs for the upcoming BLAST R6 Major.
It was poetic in a way. In February, after winning the Six Invitational during a monumental grand final stage, the w7m Esports roster was disbanded. Then, little more than two weeks later, the organisation picked up five new players, leaving the old squad to get comfortable with FURIA Esports, which re-entered Rainbow Six Siege’s esports scene at the start of March after a year-long hiatus.
Back in the Running
At the time of writing, a handful of teams have successfully qualified for a spot in the BLAST R6 Manchester Major:
- beastcoast (NA League placing)
- M80 (NA League placing)
- DarkZero Esports (NA League placing)
- FaZe Clan (Brazil League placing)
- E1 Esports (Brazil League placing)
- FURIA Esports (Brazil League placing)
- SCARZ (Japan League placing)
- PSG Talon (South Korea League placing)
The Europe League is yet to wrap up, but it’s looking good for the likes of Wolves Esports, Team Secret, and perhaps Into the Breach. Team BDS has already qualified for the BLAST R6 Major, and the other entrants will be determined later today. There are also plenty of eyes on the closing fixtures of the Oceania League, which will field one team to the BLAST R6 Major.
From May 16 to May 26, the BLAST R6 Manchester Major will unfold. There’s a $750,000 prize pool on the line, as well as a stack of SI points that’ll help determine the qualification status of teams for 2025’s Six Invitational. That’s due to take place next February in North America.
Presently, there are high hopes that FURIA Esports can make an explosive return to Rainbow Six Siege and net a win at the Major. There’s a lot of competition, though – FaZe Clan is still looking sharp as can be and is seeking a redemption story following a close loss at the Six Invitational against w7m Esports. Will the two rosters come head to head again at the BLAST R6 Major? It’s very possible.
