Games that are like VALORANT

VALORANT is one of the best esports games on the market. Firstly, it’s free to play, and who doesn’t love a good free-to-play game? Not only that, it’s an exciting game with a not-so-steep learning curve, allowing new players to have just as much fun as the veterans. But what other games are like VALORANT, or games you should play if you like VALORANT?

Read on to find out.

Counter-Strike 2

Games like VALORANT - CS2

VALORANT vs CS2 is right up there with League of Legends vs Dota 2 as the biggest game rivalries. And while the competitive VALORANT scene is on the rise, CS2 is still there as one of the most popular FPS games of all time. I don’t agree with the notion that VALORANT is a game for children while CS2 is for adults. After all, they are both shooting games.

It simply comes down to what sort of gameplay you’re looking for. If you’re looking for a modern game that looks stunning while also incorporating characters with abilities, then VALORANT is your game. If you’re looking for an old-school tactical shooter, that relies more on gun skill and map knowledge, then go with CS2.

Overwatch 2

If you’re looking for an action-packed FPS that has characters with varying abilities, Overwatch did it first. For the VALORANT vs Overwatch debate, you can argue that VALORANT is a much bigger game than Overwatch. Probably because of the love Riot has given the game over Blizzard, but Overwatch 2 is still a big title, that the VALORANT daily players can jump into, if they want a different, but similar change of pace. Overwatch 2 features several modes, similar to VALORANT game modes, but how they work is completely different. Here are the game modes available in Overwatch 2:

  • Control – Fight over a capture point.
  • Escort – Protect the president style mode where players escort a payload to the delivery points.
  • Flashpoint – Works similarly to Control. Each Flashpoint has five different capture points. Teams must capture three Flashpoints to win.
  • Hybrid – A mix between Assault and Escort.
  • Push – Another escort mode that sees a robot push an objective onto the enemy’s side of the map.
  • Clash – Similar to Domination or other capture modes, three flags and teams need to capture them to win the game.

League of Legends

Now I know what you’re thinking, League of Legends isn’t an FPS game so how can it be like VALORANT? Hear me out. This is more for those who like VALORANT rather than want to play something that is like VALORANT. League of Legends was developed by Riot Games, the same  who made VAL.

It’s common for players to want to show loyalty to developers. If you’re into CSGO, you may look at Dota 2 as you’re used to the way Valve operates. For LoL, it’s the same. All Riot Games titles live under the same roof i.e. the Riot Games client. This automatically will encourage League of Legends players to try VALORANT, and VALORANT players to try League of Legends.

If you’re solely a League of Legends player, it’s not uncommon for them to see abilities from VALORANT, and resonate with them because they look similar to something they’ve seen in League of Legends. This works the same way in VALORANT, they may see an Akali and think she somewhat resembles Jett VALORANT, in the sense she’s an assassin, she has a smoke ability, and can dash around.
