How to move VALORANT to another drive

While the size of VALORANT is not as large as other titles like Call of Duty, it still occupies a lot of space on the drive. Currently, you need around 70 GB of free storage in order to install VALORANT and run it smoothly. So, in case you are experiencing performance issues, you can move the game to another drive and here is a step-by-step guide to do it.

Steps to move VALORANT to another SSD/HDD

The process of moving VALORANT to another drive consists of two parts—moving game files and then adjusting a few settings to run it.

In order to move VALORANT from one drive to another, you will have to first close the game if it’s running.
Go to the Start Menu and launch Run.
Enter %programdata% and hit the Enter button.
Next, scroll down and look for the Riot Games folder.
Open the RiotClientsInstalls.json file and go to the address within the first set of quotes.
Move the complete VALORANT folder with all the files to the new drive.
Now, open the folder in the new drive and copy their address.
Go back to the RiotClientsInstalls.json file and replace the address in the first set of quotes with the new one.

Now, in order to run it, you will have to make the following changes:

Go back to ProgramData > Riot Games > Metadata > valorant.live.
Open the valorant.live.product_settings.yaml and open it with Notepad.
Now, scroll down and replace the address mentioned next to “product_install_full_path” with the new address of the game and “product_install_root” with the new address of the VALORANT folder.

You have now successfully moved VALORANT to another drive and should have some space freed up to store other files. If you think this is a lengthy process, you can uninstall the game and reinstall it in the new drive by selecting the desired folder during its installation process.
